Any good remedies for excessive flatulence?

For a good few years, have had terrible farts. Far too many, and smelly. Am a vegetarian, but have been for many years and this is only the last few years. Could be statins, according to Google. But can't give them up obviously. Any ideas on how to reduce?

Suffered all my life OP. Andrews Liver Salts. Although I can't find it in chemists now. I've tried chewing antacid tabs but they are not as good as Liver Salts. Just got rid of gas, nicely. Lol.

I love Andrew’s Liver Salts. They cure so many ills! They are no longer available now. Devastated! Would like to find out the reason they are no longer sold, I can’t find anything online.

You could try Eno Fruit Salts, Gaviscon, or Rennie , apparently they are similar to and have been used in place of the now unavailable Andrews Liver Salts.

I just googled them and Tesco came up - Andrews Original Salts , so they are still out there. Yey.

Peppermint tea works well for me

Travellingpants · 13/06/2025 00:56

There are tablets called Wind-eze that I think work.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 13/06/2025 00:58

You can get this on Ebay.
It's almost exactly the same as Andrews (which isn't on the Tesco's website BTW)

Assuming you've had medical causes ruled out. One of the early red flags for my coeliac disease was horrendous wind.

Quit fizzy drinks and try not to eat your food so quickly

Peppermint oil capsules work for me. My friend swears by gripe water!
