It looks like it’s night 3 of riots in Northern Ireland. I just saw on Twitter that a leisure centre is currently on fire in Larne!

What is going on?

I believe they were originally peaceful protests regarding an alleged sexual assault which descended into violence against the police.

It's coming into riot season. It's what they do. If the weather takes a turn for the worse and it chucks it down, they'll scuttle off back indoors.

Is this akin to the Southport killings? Suspected foreigners poss committing a crime so a section of the public decide it's time to riot. Had the suspects been a couple of locals there wouldn't be the unrest. Like the Liverpool car incident, he's one of us so that's ok
There was unrest in Salford this pm. Couple of locals were killed recently so there had to be some action.

I think a lot of the population are unsettled and angry with the changes in their communities and the cost of living pressures, and politicians ignore them so they turn to violence to get their point across.

The politicians still won't listen to them so it'll continue I suppose.

They are just randomly smashing windows now in streets in Ballymena with high levels of immigrants.
I live in what would be deemed a 'loyalist area' ,there are fires burning on the road about a mile away, and I really fear for my Polish neighbours. They will target anyone who isn't Protestant and/or white.

They set the leisure centre on fire because it's holding Romanians who fled there for safety after their homes got attacked. They should be done for attempted murder, they know there are people inside. They claim it's to protect women and children but it's all a mask for general unrest against immigrants. There has been protests in Belfast too (loyalist areas)

Wee hoods here have been setting fire to Ulsterbuses and chucking bits of masonry at the PSNI since way back when the PSNI were the RUC. The English summer sport is cricket, ours is rioting (except in Sion Mills and Donemana, where it's cricket). You're right it'll continue, yea unto the end of Time.

I’m sure all the other women and girls who have been raped or battered in the area in the last few years, are wondering where all the protests were on their behalf. A friend used to be in the fire service in Belfast - the fire engines would get stoned regularly (not to put out fires due to civil unrest...just normal calls). Even ambulances get stoned.
