Hi , just looking for a bit of advice . My husband and I are going to be taking our daughter and her friends to Alton Towers but not going to spending our day in there ! I’m hoping one of you lovely mumsnetters can give us any tips on how and where to spend our day till we collect them . Any ideas greatly appreciated TIA

I’d go for a walk somewhere ilam & dovedale in Peak District is my favourite, or trentham gardens is popular (can be very busy) and get a lovely lunch, the star very close to Alton towers is good, or hales hall restaurant in cheadle also good.

or totally random go to peak wildlife park & see the polar bears! 😍

Look up The Ramblers Retreat very near to Alton Towers. It has a lovely garden and excellent food. Take a walk from there through the woods then drive to Denstone Farm Shop for tea and shopping.

Thanks so much for all of the suggestions so far , they sound right up our street … plan is to drop the girls off at opening time and not collect till close so plenty of time to fit in lots of this! Just hope it’s not raining ! 😁
