A food which, when you think about it, you HAVE to have

Inspired by someone mentioning macaroni cheese on another post...

Is there one food which as soon as you're reminded of its existence, you need to have ASAP?

Macaroni cheese for me (homemade). It's not my favourite food by far and I don't make it much, but perhaps that's why when I am reminded it exists I need to have it pretty soon.

Also, to a lesser extent, eggs. I eat them loads but if I haven't had an egg that day and I see someone cooking or eating a nice looking egg it really gets my egg sense going lol.

Lasagna, there was a thread about whether it was worth making from scratch the other day and I thought YES and I WANT IT NOW!
My other vice is Cadbury's Pots of Joy - oh the joy! And now I want one!

ShellieAnn · 08/06/2025 18:06

Donner kebab, Burger King Whopper, dippy eggs and soldiers.

Chocolate. Of any kind.

Lol I read the same lasagne thread and wondered how long till someone makes me one. Delicious.

Never had a pot of joy?!

Big yes on dippy eggs. Thankfully become immune to BK now as there's one in my local train station so it takes the edge off smelling it every day. Although on the way home from the pub...

Yes, my good, they're pure unadulterated yumminess. The tubs are good too, and even better with some melted biscoff spread drizzled on top!

LittleGreenDuck · 08/06/2025 18:30

Pancakes. Often make them on Shrove Tuesday and reminded that we actually quite like them and should make them more often. And then don't eat them again until the next year.

MoominMai · 08/06/2025 18:31

A homemade hot tuna mayo toastie oozing with melted gooey mozzarella and mature cheddar cheese, buttered both sides and voila! 🤤

Ha ha ha yes same here. Annual conversation:"we should have these all the time!"

Porridge made with full cream milk and served with a dollop of honey.

DiscoBob · 08/06/2025 19:09

Home made freshly cooked roast potatoes, with loads of salt!

MamaBobo · 08/06/2025 19:16

Digestive Biscuits, buttered, with mature cheddar cheese. Must, absolutely must be McVities. We never eat biscuits as a rule, but when I think about these I want them.

Also my Mum’s trifle…raspberry jam swiss roll, tinned strawberries, sherry, strawberry jelly made with the juice from the tin, ambrosia custard, whipped cream….so many abominations in one dish…I mean tinned strawberries ffs…but it was my favourite pudding as a child….and if she were here to make it for me now you’d have to hold me back.
