Going to Germany: what should I buy/look out for?

I’m going to North Germany for work for a few days. Wondering if there are any small must have products like skincare, make-up, brands, OTC medicines, chocolate(!) I should look out for?

I won’t have a ton of space as have a carry-on, but worth asking just in case 😀

If you are in/near Lubeck marzipan! Best there is and in flavours you don't see in the UK.

If you like yarn there is Hobbii shop in Hamburg! Also the Quark Schoko Brochen (sp?) is really nice, but has to be eaten fresh. Agree with Marzipan in Lubeck although will say the Neidregger cafe cakes weren’t amazing. Honestly just make sure you take advantage of the bakeries everywhere! Chocolate is pretty much same as here these days although you may find a wider range of Milka and Ritter although both can be bought in the airport on the way home.

Hanuta! Like solid Nutella between two wafers. Lidl and Aldi do knock-off versions here, but it's not the same

Headphones. Can't stand the language😄. And bring something to eat as well.

As you specifically mention skincare, go to the nearest DM and pick up some AHA toner /liquid refiner from Nø Cosmetics. The DM own brand Balea products are also very good (basic shampoo and body lotions). Also if you like La Roche Posay/Avene/Eucerin the pharmacies often have good deals on these products

Ah but just seen you only have carry on luggage...my suggestions might not be so helpful sorry 🙈

OTC medicines are more expensive than the UK so I wouldn't bother with those.

There are lots of great Ritter flavours, any decent supermarket will have a good selection. Also Lindt choccy bars.

It's coming up for the holiday season so there are often good deals on travel toiletries in Apotheke - Nuxe sets are really nice and you could put these in your hand luggage. Also look for Weleda in DM, Rossmann and Müller. They have a revamped skincare range which is lovely.

Thanks all!

I’ve been told by friends to go to the DM Drogerie stores for skincare so will definitely check that out!

Ritter choc too!

I love Balea toiletries, and I could spend hours in DM and Muller!

Hanuta as pp have mentioned, so damn nice 🤤

If you have a B12 deficiency, or friends/family that do, get some OTC B12 injections to self inject at home!
