Bar soap

I've been using Highland bar soap for quite a while now and I do find it lovely. However I would like to try other bar soaps maybe something a little bit more special to make me feel pampered and relaxed after a long day. Budget anything from £1 to £30 for something lovely and more importantly washes the peri menopause stink away.

If you have a TK maxx near you, they have lovely bar soaps. Mostly handmade, from Europe and here. And because they are usually in paper wrap you can actually smell them before you buy them

Wheech · 06/06/2025 21:36

White Company Seychelles is my go to. I also love Pears, it's not a luxury soap but it's just lovely.

Redshoeblueshoe · 06/06/2025 21:37

I was going to say TKMaxx too. Also Home Bargains have got some lovely ones in at the moment.

Wrapped in paper sounds lovely and much better than plastic that some come in, will be like buying myself a gift Grin will have a look through the recommendations.

Pears and Sanex both smell lovely

EscargotChic · 06/06/2025 22:18

I like Faith in Nature soaps - the lavender and the coconut ones are my favourites. And the Little Soap Company Rose Geranium one I get occasionally when it’s on offer on Ocado.

countdowntonap · 06/06/2025 22:20

I use soap from Claus Porto, and from Granado. Both lovely luxuries.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 06/06/2025 22:22

Nesti Dante soap. Lovely, Italian, nice paper-wrapped bars with lovely scents. You can get them from Amazon.

Rictasmorticia · 06/06/2025 22:22

Shetland soap company and Arran sense of Scotland

Jewelanemone · 06/06/2025 22:25

Sea Shed Cornish soap. Around £5 for a big chunky bar that lasts for ages. Beautiful perfumes too. Look out for free postage or money off

And the bars are wrapped in paper.

Definitely experiment with what you can find in TK Maxx.

Otherwise - Toast soap is glorious, particularly the Petitgrain.

mummysmagicmedicine · 06/06/2025 22:33

I use a dove bar soap to clean them a scented shower gel of my choice after!

PauliesWalnuts · 06/06/2025 22:46

I pick them up wherever I see nice ones. The last few have been from National Trust shops and I also got a stash from one of the lovely shops in Salts Mill near Bradford. I keep them in my chest of drawers until I need one.

minnienono · 06/06/2025 22:49

Highly recommend the Shetland soap company, they are a social enterprise employing people with additional needs for added feel good factor. I stock up there but they also Mail order, their lip balms are good and solid shaving soap for men in your lives that use it

jaydeem · 06/06/2025 22:50

Anything from the English Soap Company but in particular their Lily of the valley, Lavender or Bluebell. All paper wrapped and a decent size for £6 a bar.

Vinorosso74 · 06/06/2025 22:52

I like the English Soap Company ones. They have all sorts online, various places do sell their soaps eg. gift shops and garden centres.
I also like the French type soaps, again often available in gift shop places.

Ohhh pears soap is my absolute favourite, i really dont know why people turn there nose up at it!!

Bollynicks · 07/06/2025 00:15

Crumbs lots for me to look at here. Loving all the independent companies.

Saying that I've been looking at Chanel CoCo mademoiselle and it looks lovely. It's that way though can I justify spending £30 on a bar of soap for myself.

Urban Apothecary, especially Green Lavender or Velvet Peony. Pricey though

AcquadiP · 07/06/2025 00:30

Another vote for Nesti Dante. Triple milled, large bars which last for ages, the scents are divine and a large selection to choose from.

KarlaKK · 07/06/2025 01:18

Some small boutique style gift shops sell Inis soap (and perfume), which is nice. L'Occitane lemon verbena is nice too.

SuperGinger · 07/06/2025 06:57

My Dad used to run a company that made a lot of soap and he says a lot of artisan type soaps are actually very poorly made.
