Depends what you are looking for. Lots on Next, John Lewis, Wayfair, Etsy.
If you want a particular theme or colours searching by subject will bring up a range including artist owned websites for prints.
We have a gorgeous coastal landscape that we bought from a village art fair. Original watercolour framed. Looking at it takes me back to my favourite place.
You can also produce art work just with your phone. I took close ups of dandelion clocks, had them printed in black and white and mounted them in a triple photo frame.
Enjoy your search.

Depends on your budget and whether you want originals rather than prints.

The internet has many, many artists selling their paintings, both originals and prints, so you could have a look at what’s available. Also visit art galleries and the end of degree art shows at art collages.

Find a good framer who can advise you about what frames suit each picture. Mounts are important too, look at colours and the use of double mounts. I pick up good frames from charity shops also.

It took us about 5 years to build our art collection, all originals. We bought from local artists and also on holiday. Our favourite painting came from a restaurant which had paintings from local artists for sale. One caught my eye and, as the evening went on, I liked it more and more. I bought it (at a reasonable price of £750) when I paid for the meal - our most expensive meal ever!

Have a look at King and McGaw, lovely prints!

A local art fair? Is there a group of local artists that have a gallery/evening/way of showing their work?

Small galleries, village art fairs, gift shops, country shows, seasonal fairs, antique shops and fairs.

It takes a while to find things you like, so it really depends. Personally I absolutely hate generic “art” from places like Next so have taken time buying things I see that I like, usually prints from an artist. Some framed, some not.

Inexpensive way would be prints from Poster lounge and frames from Ikea.

My favourite piece is a very large drawing I bought for £500 from a village art show, donated by the artist. Similar ones in a nearby gallery were £1500. Just luck to be right place, right time and I have never regretted buying it and its much admired.
