Don't ever decide to 'tidy' your teens room

Just been in my teens room, I was chatting away to them and having a little tidy up at the same time. No drama it wasn't that messy.

I made the huge mistake of opening a plastic ice cream tub that I thought was empty! It had about 3 month old mouldy blueberry muffin wrappers in it. I have never in my life smelt anything so bad.

I've left it for them to dispose of 🤢

At least that’s all it was, you got off lightly!

Why would you tidy up for them. Leave them to it and let them suffer the smell. They'll grow out of it eventually and will turn into neat freaks. 😊

Oh believe me I have tidied up much worse but Christ the smell that came out of that tub was like nothing I've ever smelled before.

Dispose of it??? That will be one of their “treasures”. I’m surprised they let you touch their stuff without getting an earful 😂

I was DEFINITELY expecting something far worse in that tub!!!

I only did it because I was chatting away to them and wanted to clear space to sit on their bed to talk 😂

😂 I kind of almost wish it had been worse
green furry wrappers were not what I expected to see

They don't give a toss if I do it for them. And I rarely do tidy in there. It won't be happening again.

I cannot ever imagine them turning into neat freaks 😂

I unpacked a suitcase abandoned under my DSD's bed for more than a year. It had the packed lunch she had taken (but not eaten) still inside...

ZiggyZowie · 02/06/2025 17:15

Huh? That all ?

I tried to tidy my 2 boys' room, apart from the dried on nose pick on top bunk ,when I pulled out debris from under the bed something black and small scurried across the floor. !!
Never again

I’ve found far worse and embarrassing things they don’t know about. (Top tip for any teens lurking on here, if you have liberal parents, we still don’t want to find the evidence!!!)

Quite! I long for the days when all I found was a stash of Coke cans and some vapes.

My poor Mum has had a few surprises when tidying around my bedroom when I was a teen.
I was hugely told off when she found rats. Pet rats, that is. I'd asked for them and she said no, so I got my older boyfriend to buy them and sneak them in.
They had babies. We ended up with 4 cages of rats (sold most of them back to the same pet shop) because she never went in my room....until she did 😬

She also found an adult toy I had when I was 16, also bought from boyfriend. She wanted to know if I was having sex and how I managed to pass for 18 when I looked younger than I was.
My honest answer had said boyfriend banned from the house 😅

The last time I attempted to clean DS bedroom was a few summers ago.. The floor was completely covered in clothes so I went in barefoot in an effort to make sure I didn’t break anything that was potentially hiding. What I ‘found’ was a completely melted chewitt that squished up between my toes. It felt absolutely disgusting and kept sticking my foot to the floor on the way to the bathroom. I’d take a mouldy muffin any day
