Does anyone know what these are (photos supplied)

Nine little slightly padded rectangles. They were tied up in a ribbon. DH possibly was given them in India as a gift. They are too small for place mats and too padded to be napkins. Possibly coasters but the shape seems odd for a coaster. Can anyone shed any light on what they are? Thanks.

I think they are mats to put any sort of bowl/cup on on the table. Practical (protecting the table) but also decorative. So not so much place mats or coasters, but something a bit in the middle, for snack bowls or sauces or salad. Not something people really use, but probably the sort of stuff a tourist might buy.

Possibly. They are pretty but don't match our colour scheme. It seems a shame to throw them away. Maybe charity shop for them.
