Tips for minimizing hangover?

I know the obvious answer is not to drink as much, which is my plan. However, it is my daughter's 18th, and there are about 20 of us all going out to Newcastle. They (including me) are all big drinkers, so realistically, that is not going to happen.

My hangovers usually last 3 days, and I start a new job on Monday. So far, I have drink hydration sachets before drinking and when I get home before bed, eating something carb-heavy before going out, and drinking water throughout the night.

Is there anything else I can do today/tomorrow that might help me feel human on Monday?

-Darker drinks generally have more tannin and give more of a hangover- so dark rums/bourbons might be more of an issue than say gin or vodka drinks.

-Try to have liquors in a large mixer glass with plenty of mixer

-Drink Wine Feel fine or similar wine drops, help reduce the preservatives (sulphites) in wines, which some people find gives them a worse hangover. It might work in other alcohols, but I don't think liquors/beers have sulphites.

-Hydrodol capsules. I found the in Australia, but I think you can buy them online in the UK.

Could you drink white wine spritzers, with sparkling water, not lemonade? If I know I’m out for a long session, that’s what I do. Definitely gets you less trollied and also hides the taste of the crap wine a lot of places sell - win win!

Hydration sachet before you go to bed, don’t mix your drinks. Drinks water with any food.

I stick to gin and tonic now - and only singles. That way I get a happy buzz but every drink is a glass of water too. I have a soft drink or water in between each alcoholic drink. Big glass of water with a berrocca when I get home and a couple of paracetamol. Take a glass of water to bed and drink when I stir in the night. Big breakfast and plenty of fluids the next day and a nice bath and an early night the next night!
