I desperately need one for an SEN child. Cost is not a factor but preferably below £200

I’m not sure there is such a thing.

There has to be a vent to the outside, otherwise it’s just a fan. You can get portable ones for under £200 but there will be a big old pipe hanging out the window.

Well, we had one installed a long time ago (30 years back) but it's a fixed feature with a fixed pipes, ie not portable so it wouldn't be cheap, can't remember how much ours was but my best guess is £'k..

Yep, either a fully plumbed in split system or a portable one with a window vent.

You're looking for an air cooler or evaporative cooler/fan with ice packs, not air con.

Search Amazon for 'Pro Breeze OmniAir 5L 4in1 Evaporative Air Cooler & Portable Tower Fan' - there's one on there that's used as new for £70 or £99, or 'PELONIS 3-in-1 Energy Efficient Air Cooler' for £109.

If they help, you might want to upgrade, but it might be enough.
