Gift ideas for 3 year old girl

DS has been invited to the birthday party of one of the little girls at his nursery. As a mum of 2 boys, I've no idea what to get her. Any suggestions from girl mums with kids a similar age would be much appreciated. Budget around £15?!

Same you would get your Dc. I mean they're friends, they probably like playing with the same stuff.

Stichintime · 30/05/2025 13:20

Difficult, as you don't know what she already has. What about some activity books/colouring books and a nice set of pens?

A fairy door to decorate, Melissa and Doug sets, hair
clips, lip balm sets

Books

Russiandollsaresofullofthemselves · 30/05/2025 19:33

Literally anything you would buy your sons. toys aren’t gender specific.

Botanybaby · 30/05/2025 19:40

Can't go wrong with Lego/Duplo or play dough or some art/craft stuff

Whiteflowerscreed · 30/05/2025 19:41

Magnatiles or similar. Lego duplo. Magnetic puzzle. Water painting book

Merrow · 30/05/2025 19:42

I liked the orchard toys games as a gift at that age, it was my staple for any party DS1 was invited to

boredoflaundry · 30/05/2025 19:43

I’d reduce your budget unless this is a close friend!
you might have 30/60 of these once they get to school!

ThatMiddleClassFood · 30/05/2025 19:47

We always gave books and a little craft at that age

Agree with this
I usually buy a superheroes themed one for boys and there are plenty of girl aimed ones of they don't like marvel etc

My DD is 3. She loves dressing up, princess dresses with crowns etc. Playdoh, lego or other building blocks, colouring books and crayons. The mess free crayola colouring books are amazing! For her 3rd birthday people got her a little handbag with a lip gloss and hair clips inside, a money box she can decorate, playdoh, slime, crafts, outdoor toys like bowling sets or water pistols, clothes, pyjamas.

Craft is lovely at that age. One of those kits that they can do most of it themselves and end up with something they can present to grandma or display on their shelves.
You can get fairly cheap kits from places like "The Works" or "The Entertainer" that are great.

Or something like a little Lego kit or a outside game (assuming they have a garden).
Fairly generic unless you know the child really, but at 3yo my girls normally had a fairly firm idea as to what their friend would like (ds wouldn't have had a clue) so it's worth asking your dc.

chicke09 · 30/05/2025 20:04

Play doh, books, if it’s a summer birthday then something to play with in the garden?

HappyMummaOfOne · 30/05/2025 20:14

Argos has 2 for £15 on selected toys and there are some great options.

This Chad valley wooden doctor set :-

At this age you can get girls anything. My daughter had a dinosaur theme birthday party as she loved everything to do with dinosaurs and dressing up.

Thanks to all of those who actually made suggestions. DS has only just turned 3 himself and I don't think he even knows the little girl very well (he's never mentioned her) so not in the a position to give me ideas sadly. This is the first party invite we've received so wasn't sure what was the done thing, budget-wise. I like the crafty, decorate your own jewellery box/treasure chest idea so will look for something like that.

My DD is 3 and loves anything Disney princess, dress up, playdoh, crafts, colouring, dolls etc.

dontcomeatme · 30/05/2025 20:28

Washimals are a big hit with all the girls in my family, they sell them at smyths about £15 ish for a set with the bathtub.

NuffSaidSam · 30/05/2025 21:11

Get something they can 'use up', not something plastic that might just be more crap they don't need.

Craft stuff
Craft set
Felt tips/crayons
Colouring book
Stickers
Play doh
Bubbles

GDPhoridFlies · 30/05/2025 21:14

Mine loved her set of magnet tiles

Ireallywantadoughnut36 · 06/06/2025 14:29

I personally hated super gendered presents for my little girl (lip gloss, jewellery, fairy wings or crowns etc) especially at 3. I'd go with a craft kid, some duplo, some colouring bits, playdoh kits etc.

BarnacleBeasley · 06/06/2025 14:34

Under a tenner, I'd say - and 3 is about when they start being able to do easy proper jigsaws and play simple turn-taking games, so the Orchard Games suggestion above is really good.
