Just that really

not felt well for a couple of days, and had a terrible headache for about 4.

Started with D&V last night and been up all night.

its my 60th ! And I know (DH let the cat out the bag) that my son has arranged a party / bbq for me.

I don’t know what todo, haven’t been ill since 4am but feel like death. I don’t won’t to let him down but just want to sleep but really want to go.

i think I’ll just have a little cry instead

It’s bed for you and get this party rearranged for when you feel better

sheknowsitstoolate · 26/05/2025 09:16

It’s shit but it won’t be much of a party if everyone ends up Ill. You’ll be better off changing the date so it isn’t cancelled completely. Happy birthday.

Oh no, such a shame. Happy 60th Birthday. Is it this afternoon or this evening? Some lucozade, paracetamol and some sleep might leave you feeling much more human.

Pepperama · 26/05/2025 09:19

Happy birthday and so sorry you’re feeling so unwell. Try to get back to sleep and see how you feel later. If you’re still so unwell you’ll just have to cancel/miss the party, no way around it. Hope you can have a lovely late birthday day out or so when you’re better

TorchSong · 26/05/2025 09:19

Just postpone everything, from opening cards to the party! You’ll feel much more birthdayish in a couple of days when you’ve stopped throwing up! My 13 year old, whose birthday is at the start of April, only actually had his party last weekend.

Reallybadidea · 26/05/2025 09:20

Sorry you're ill, that's rubbish at the best of times, let alone when you're the birthday girl!

If the shoe was on the other foot, would you want your husband to put on a brave face for everyone or would you rather he did what he needed to and went to bed? I suspect the latter...

Not to mention the risk of spreading it to your guests - and your husband might be brewing it too.

Get well soon x

Happy birthday and sorry you are feeling poorly.

Many illnesses I'd say try and power through but not D&V. Even if you do feel better later you won't be up for much and you could be contagious.

Postpone until the weekend?

Agree with this. Cold? Suck it up. D&V? No way, it’s grim.

Not only are you not well enough, I'd be very cross to go to a party where the host has d&v, was providing food and hadn't told me. You could ruin half term for several guests.

Happy birthday. Postpone the celebrations. I had my 40th birthday celebration last month. I turned 40 4 years ago, slap bang in the middle of Covid.
