I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The kittens have been fed & girl cat has gone up to snuggle with dd1. Dd1 wants to move & has text me moaning about the cat being on her leg 🤣. I've reminded her the cat's tiny & moveable.

We've got a fairly chill, but still productive, day ahead of us here. I've already got the washer and dryer going (dryer for towels so dd2 can shower early). We all need to pack for overnight in Manchester tomorrow; I'm half done already so I can help dd2 - I've even got out a small crochet project to fill at least one train journey. I might look for a second, but that means more to carry 🤔.

I'm planning to finish the two sets of peg dolls I'm currently painting, and then mark up some more ready for painting. I might get to starting painting them too since the others are mostly in need of their details.

We're having pork loin steaks, probably with salad, for tea. Followed by nice early showers all round - Self Care Sunday scrubby everything shower for me. I might ask dd1 to pop a dye on my hair once I'm showered, if I cba (probably not!).

Tonight we'll all just chill - dd2 is rewatching 9-1-1 so she'll probably carry on with that. I'm crocheting a yeti for a display at work so I'll do a few more rounds of that. Then all in bed early, ready for getting up at the buttcrack of dawn (as dd1 says) 🤣.

What about all of you? 🙂

DH has an interview this week - so I’m trying to support him with that (it’s a role I have done previously and I know the person interviewing him - it’s killing me to not meddle) taking all the other stuff on so he can prep- dog walking, picking up the shopping.
packing for everyone for holiday on Tuesday.
I’m meeting a pal for coffee at 10 - and we have dinner reservations at 5 with a gang and are then going to the pub and possibly into town dancing!
I might go to the gym if I get time.

MagicalMystical · 25/05/2025 09:29

I’ve said this before @lucysmam but I wish I had your mindset. Your posts always come across as really peaceful and content.

DilemmaDelilah · 25/05/2025 09:30

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I have a couple of people coming this morning to collect some of the things Mr Dilemma has unearthed from his shed. I need to sort out a box of things to take to the charity shop.

Washing needs to be done, but there isn't much of that as I try to do it nearly every day, if there is a load ready. If it was sunny I would wash some pillows. I try to get them all done on sunny days in the summer so that they don't cost me any electricity. I have feather pillows and they take a LOT of drying!

I would quite like to go out somewhere but:
Mr Dilemma doesn't like going out at the weekends/holidays as 'there are too many people around' and 'there are too many kids'. I love him to bits but he can really be a grumpy old man sometimes!
Also - he's on a roll with the shed clearing and if I stop him it won't ever get finished. He has just told me he's going to put more stuff in the shed this morning and I have asked him if he has completely cleared it.... The answer, of course, is no. He says it is now clear enough to sort things without having to take them out of the shed - but how he would do that if he has put even more stuff IN the shed I don't know! So I have gently suggested that he should sort the shed first before putting anything else into it. I can only hope he takes my 'advice', otherwise there will be an 'I told you so' moment coming along....

Anyway - we've got those people coming to collect things so won't be able to go out this morning anyway 😞. He will be exhausted by this afternoon so will want to nap, and I will probably need to as well. I did have an excellent night's sleep so it would have been nice to see if I could manage without. Maybe we could go out for lunch instead! Although I'm already hearing....'it's the weekend and it will be really busy' .... sigh.

Good morning Lucysmam and others. The weather here is a bit unsettled, cloudy, windy, then blue skies and then a shower - all within five minutes!
Yesterday my friend came for second breakfast, clutching roses from M&S for me. I fed her poached eggs on toast with avocado and she was happy. She did try to help and wanted to do the dishes afterwards but I wouldn't let her, so we sat and blethered for ages. After she left, I stripped the bed and washed the whites.
Today I'm having the grandsons for a couple of hours. Dd has made a wedding cake and has to deliver it. Once they are picked up, I will collapse on the couch, no doubt!😂 Have a good day all

LightCameraBitchSmile · 25/05/2025 09:42

Morning everyone, I had a super productive, out the house all day day yesterday so hoping today will be calmer.

currently sat on the sofa mumsnetting but have stopped by bed and put that on to wash. I usually I’m already thinking about breakfast (which I don’t normally eat) but not sure I’ve got anything in.

today I will tackle my life admin jobs I think with some telly on. Lots of things I need to order, appointments to make, holiday to book etc. thankfully the weather isn’t good enough to lure me outside!

A crocheted yeti sounds so cute. Are we allowed a sneak preview?

Hedjwitch · 25/05/2025 09:49

Still in bed. Plan to meet DD2 for lunch later. Nothing else on the agenda really and a day off tomorrow for the Bank Holiday so all very chilled.

gingercat02 · 25/05/2025 09:49

I'm up and just finishing breakfast, off to my Sunday class in half an hour. Need to put a wash on so I can hang it out when I get home.
We are going to Scotland so ironing and packing this afternoon.
Catch up with the F1 once the footie season is over, sausage pasta for tea as we had Chinese last night.
Telly, glass of wine and bed for an early start tomorrow

lucysmam · 25/05/2025 09:53

@MyKingdomForACat I'm 2 feet and the bottom rows in, so far. I'll pop a pic of what I'm aiming for instead 😊. I'm not using the blue, or adding horns as he's to display with the book Yeti & the Bird.

Good morning @lucysmam and all!

Sitting on the sofa in the kitchen having a brew, the sun is shining through the back doors after thoroughly pissing down early this morning. Fancy a bacon sandwich but no bacon, currently knee deep in a stand off with dp over who goes to the shop, I made the brews so with my logic it’s definitely not me going to the shop 😁

Promised ds a trip to Smyths today to spend some of his birthday money, will fly into Asda and grab some stuff for a buffet too. We have family over this afternoon to watch the last game of the season. Really big day for our team! Nerves are already kicking in. Looking forward to catching up with family too.

Dd will be home from her dad’s in time for kick off, looking forward to seeing her and hearing all about what her dad got her for her birthday.

Have lovely Sundays all. I love that Sunday bank holiday feeling.

salcombebabe · 25/05/2025 09:56

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. First time I've posted here but love to see how everyone is spending their Sunday!
I'm going to see my daughter for our usual Sunday morning catch up. This week is even more special as she told me last weekend that she's pregnant with my first grandchild 😍 She's 14 weeks tomorrow so we've got lots to talk about!
I'm going to start crocheting a baby blanket for her so will get on with that this afternoon.

Fabulous! I love it. How talented ❤️

SmallSnooze · 25/05/2025 10:01

Freezing but sunny here in my corner of Scotland. Woke up early as had my nephews sleeping over last night and one woke at 6am!

DW has taken the boys for a dog walk so I could clean up the kitchen. Amazing how 2 small kids cause such chaos in 24 hours. I'd forgotten that, since DS doesn't live with us anymore. Was nice and nostalgic this morning to make different breakfasts for everyone, just quietly happy in the middle of it all.

I'm just now MNing and drinking an iced coffee, didn't fancy hot, and going to book tickets for go karting for later on.

We're going to a garden centre for lunch with Grandma this afternoon, which at 90 she considers the highlight of her week, and I love our Sundays together.

CalicoPusscat · 25/05/2025 10:01

@lucysmam very cute!!

Morning all. I'm checking out in about 40 minutes (hotel). Felt almost grumpy this morning as I had a breakfast included in the price, whereas I had my heart set on going out for an egg and cheese mcmuffin. Doesn't mean I can't have a biscoff McFlurry in a bit.

Transport has changed today so I need to check routes carefully. I might need to walk down to the beach as pretty sure bus will stop there.

MrsAvocet · 25/05/2025 10:02

We're planning to drive over to my DS's University city to watch him play in a sports competition this afternoon but the weather is distinctly dubious. We're going as a surprise but need to leave soon if we're going to, so I am currently messaging him and casually trying to find out if the event is still on, without giving away that we're planning to show up!

Thislittlekitten · 25/05/2025 10:12

Morning all.

I woke up early to let dog out for a pee but fell back asleep until 930. Love a few extra hours.

Just having a cup of tea and need to walk dog properly and pick up rolls.

Both cats fed so are sleeping with full tummies.
DD is asleep. Me DH and DS floating about until I make the bacon rolls.

Out plans today with family have been cancelled due to sickness. So not sure what we will do. I have a few wee ideas about dog walks but the kids might complain.

Roast for tea tonight and I need to do more reading for work.

Rolo87south · 25/05/2025 10:25

Good morning all.
I'm going for a walk with the dogs to the field that I've payed £10 to use for an hour. It's secure and it will be nice to see the dogs running of lead with no interruptions.
Might take youngest Dd with me. Then a chilled day at home.
Take away for tea latter, not had one since new year.
Loving this extra long weekend bliss.

Zippedydodah · 25/05/2025 10:32

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone, I’m enjoying my avocado and smoked salmon on sourdough toast with a big mug of milky coffee. ZDog2 and I have had a 2 hour walk across fields (saw three roe deer), through the woods, across parkland and along quiet lanes, so I reckon I’ve earned it!
The washing is on, hopefully it’ll dry outside although there are big black clouds scudding across the blue sky 🤞🏻
DH has taken ZDog1 to the village for his usual coffee and chat to anyone who stops, I’m never convinced that ZDog1 gets much of a proper walk with him on Sundays so I will take her out later across the fields.
I’m about to do the ironing, I have no idea what’s for dinner so need to poke around in the fridge and freezer. I must do some watercolour painting too, I have zero excuse not to, I’m am too good at procrastinating 🫣
ZDog2 is snoring her little head off, she’s a funny little sausage and I love her dearly. She’s had a pretty awful life for most of her 8 years so it’s really heartwarming seeing her enjoying herself. She and ZDog1 get along pretty well which makes it all worthwhile!

Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?
Whiskyfromsmallglasses · 25/05/2025 10:36

Morning. I've had a couple of busy weekends with a hen do and meals/drinks with a friend so this weekend I'm glad to be having a normal one with no excessive amounts of alcohol. Normally I have a couple of glasses of wine at the weekend so after the hen I remembered why I don't drink more 🤢

Yesterday I was busy with shopping for myself and both my elderly housebound parents ( seperated years ago ) doing three lots of shopping for a week is not easy! Then I took an afternoon tea to my mum's. Took quite a bit of her stuff to the charity shop and then came home to plant marigolds in my hanging baskets and pots. Ended up cutting back three bushes and doing a general tidy.

So today I'm refusing to move from the house. Teen ds will be heading out soon to the bike park with his friends and he will be gone most of the day so I plan to finish my book and watch some more of the series I'm half way through. Just having a coffee and a croissant in bed while I read.

It's sometimes a struggle to find time to myself between helping both my parents, my ds, working full-time and running my own house/life

SunnieShine · 25/05/2025 10:38

My plans for the day have been cancelled. And I'm delighted. Work has been a nightmare and all I to want to do is chill at home.

DilemmaDelilah · 25/05/2025 10:39

Short update from me 😁. Mr Dilemma has started putting stuff back into the shed.... including the stuff I had planned on sorting out for charity. Words have been said.

We ARE going out for lunch, but because Mr (Grumpy) Dilemma doesn't really want to go he has picked a really generic pub in a very mediocre area because 'not many people will want to go there'. Hmmmm - I wonder why not.....

Anyway - I'm going to have roast chicken that I haven't had to think about cooking or clearing up after. It won't actually be roast - it's on the menu as half a roast chicken but they don't have a rotisserie so it will have been pre-cooked and bunged into the deep fat fryer probably, but I like chicken.

We were going to have cassoulet this evening (cooked previously by me and frozen) but won't need that now and will have it tomorrow instead. It will be something simple like cheese on toast instead. I have a couple of tomatoes that will go nicely with that.

Crunchymum · 25/05/2025 10:41

Happy Sunday lucysmam and everyone.

Everyone was up early today so older kids were at the park by 9am (in the drizzle, although it's brightened up now). I've manage to change all the beds, and second lot of washing in on.

Oldest is meeting a friend and they are going to the cinema (bit of en experiment as they are that awkward preteen age where they want to go without parents but possibly aren't old enough?). I've booked the tickets and will walk them over to the cinema and then the friends parents will collect them after and take them for a walk / dinner.

Girls are off out with daddy after lunch for a canal bike ride, they pass an adventure playground which they like so they will have a run around in there.

Chicken roast for dinner and then just a relaxing evening. I'm off next week so I'm excited to have absolutely no plans (although we have a party Monday afternoon, tickets to NHM later in the week and dentist one morning so the calendar is filling up quickly)

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 25/05/2025 10:49

Going to a barbecue an hour’s drive away. Weather is looking iffy!

Same as former same occasions, I have made a monster lemon meringue pie* to take. Always goes down well.

*3 times the old GH recipe I use!

Peridot1 · 25/05/2025 10:53

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I missed the thread yesterday somehow.

Ive been up a while. Just drinking my breakfast! Had dental surgery (a tissue graft) on Tuesday and I have been on liquids only since. And not the fun kind! Can’t have anything hot either so no tea - which was harder than no wine! I had a few lukewarm cups of tea yesterday and this morning which was better than nothing. So breakfast is a healthy green smoothie. Lunch will be soup. And I’m going to try some soft food tonight for dinner. Lasagna is the plan.

DH is out of action as he damaged the cartilage in his knee so I’ve been chief cook and bottle washer.

First load of washing is on. Stripped DS’s bed yesterday so his bedding, some pillows and a duvet to be washed over next few days.

Village duck race is today which is always fun. DH can’t go. I can’t eat or drink! But I’ll go for a while. Need to bring the dessert I made yesterday. A very sweet Malteaser traybake. I can officially have wine from today but I’ll be good! Maybe a glass.

I’m about to hunt out our folding chairs and empty the dishwasher and have a shower. Just waiting for the washing machine to finish to hang first load out.
