Bowel prep motivation

soddingblimey · 21/05/2025 21:20

Any words of motivation welcome, I am struggling! Tired, want a cup of tea with milk, hungry and I have a litre of this rank stuff to go yet
also now terrified of the operation

it’s a gynae operation so doesn’t need to be perfect prep but I want to get it as good as I can

I hope all goes well. I’ve had 6 years of issues following a 3c tear during a v difficult birth so I’ll be glad to be finally fixed and continent

MsNevermore · 21/05/2025 22:30

Probably not the most lady-like way to go about it…..but here we are 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

I tried to drink mine from the bottle but was struggling to chug it.
So I called upon my pint-downing skills from days gone by 😂🫠 Poured the remainder of the bottle into a pint glass and got it down in one.
It also worked exceptionally fast 🫣🫣🫣
I think everything I ate since I was 6 months old came out of me.

soddingblimey · 21/05/2025 22:30

I thought it was clear and now it’s not again! This is probably food from when I was first weaned now

Good luck tomorrow. I would be dreaming of all the snacks I could eat afterwards.
Have they given your an idea how long you'll be in for?

Well I managed it just! Was up until midnight then again at 3am and I’m still going now

Op it’s gonna be sooooo worth it. I know how fucking horrible the prep is, I did it recently. But think about how great you’re gonna feel later after the worlds best nap, a massive McDonald’s and then a life free of pain from adhesions.

You have my sympathies - that stuff is vile. Your body rebels against it because it tastes like something you should not be consuming.

Best of luck with the surgery!

Yes, that's what I found. I had to drink mine in two lots a couple of hours apart and I got the first pint down relatively easily, but by the second one my body had realised what was going on!

Feel absolutely sick with nerves now

You're through the worst now @soddingblimey .
In hospital you'll be well cared for and put to a lovely sleep.
A better future awaits .
Thinking of you and sending virtual strength .Flowers

Oh dear, hope you can get some sleep. It's out of the way, yippee!

TheLongRider · 23/05/2025 01:01

Best of luck with your recovery.

SwanOfThoseThings · 23/05/2025 08:31

Sounds like they took their time to get it absolutely right, which is a good thing. Hope you're recovered soon!

Oh definitely, they called the bowel surgeon in too and he operated for about 3hrs. Everything is intact but she said it was a mess

Goodness .Thank heavens you didn't anticipate all that and thank goodness you were asleep .
Be mega kind to yourself ,be aware that the drugs might mess with your head and give you vague hallucinations.
And ask every one you can what to do re bowel movements and not getting constipated .

That's great to hear you're on your way home. I've been wondering how you got on. Take it easy.

This is good advice.

Glad op was a success, if a bit longer than expected! Hope you've got lots of help and support through your recovery.

I live alone so mostly just the cat! Not on any painkillers though and I’m up and walking around gently, washed some dishes and managing to make toast etc
