We are off for two weeks soon. Beach resort in Greece. It's me, DH and 2 DC (6 and 4)

How many of things would you pack?

Swimsuits
Things to throw on over swimsuits
Outfits.
Underwear/socks.

We aren't planning any excursions or anything and no wet weather gear needed...

I don’t know, what do you think? It sounds like you’re writing a blog post, ChatGPT can help with that.

MaybeBabyOneMoreTime · 19/05/2025 20:18

Don't think I've ever been accused of sounding like I'm writing a blog ...

Just never done this type of holiday and DH and I have rather wildly differing views. But I'll try AI I guess...

What’s his view and what’s yours? How wildly different can they be?!

GravyBoots · 19/05/2025 20:26

Who are you flying with? Are you cabin bags or hold?

It makes a difference as if Ryan Air for example 6 and 4 year olds can have their own cabin cases.

My daughter and I have travelled abroad alone since she was 10 (now 16). Cheap flights, use the cabin sized suitcases and still take too much!

Me for 2 weeks - 3 swimsuits but they were chop and change, tankini, shorts, bikini bottoms, tank top.
2 throw over pool/beach tops
2 pairs shorts for pool
1 skirt for pool.
Vests for pool/beach

Evening tops 4
Light evening trousers 3
Light Evening skirts 1
Light evening dresses, never worn, got left behind.

This is wearing me out now 🤣

Basically a lot less than you'd think, especially if there's a laundrette on site and or you can rinse kids tshirts and have a clothes horse on balcony.

We've decided from now on we'll just buy towels at resort to save on space.

I'm stressing myself! Don't tell me you're going ski-ing!

I found when mine were younger - same swimwear and tshirts rinsed daily.
Evening wear, mix and match tshirts to 3 or 4 pairs of shorts. Little dresses x5.

And... I need a holiday.

I’m also bemused you can’t work this out…

Swimwear / cover up / tee shirts / shorts for day time - 3-4 outfits

Dresses / linen pants / short sleeve shirts for evening - 3-4 outfits

Travel in Jean and a cardigan

Sandals, underwear, toiletries and you’re good.

GravyBoots · 19/05/2025 20:30

I've just acknowledged Greece. I take back my skiing comment!

Will you have access to a washing machine?

Undies... 7...rinse in sink, dry in lovely Greek air.

Socks - travel in one pair, 2 extra?

Everyone is different. Everyone does different things. It's difficult to advise. Usually less than you think though is how I always end up.

Start with shoes. You will be doing more walking than you think, and anything uncomfortable or new will be a nightmare. Work back from that and take less of everything than you think. If you are short of something there, you can buy it locally.
I wouldn't take a big bottle of shampoo for example. Buy it there.

PS As its Greece and you may be going on a boat at some point, cotton jacket is good for wind and something like a cotton scarf to keep sea breezes off neck. Have a lovely time.
