I know only they can answer this. But please humour me, or tell me your experiences until they reopen tomorrow.

I've broken my ankle and wrist so now can not do my horse riding holiday in Portugal.

I have great insurance so know I will be covered for a refund, but I'm desperate to go away.

Do you think I will be able to book a fly and flop holiday instead, with a break that is three weeks old?

I suspect they’d ask for a medical opinion.

Phunkychicken · 17/05/2025 19:58

I think flying is often not ok with breaks, esp of you have a pot on due to swelling

ScaryM0nster · 17/05/2025 19:58

With a split cast and a medical
letter that says it’s ok - probably.

I suspect they’d ask for a medical opinion.

That would make sense.

I also wonder if it would be possible from a pain point of view.

Has anyone swam with the cast bags?

I know this is first world problems!

You’ll need to get advice from your doctor about whether it would be wise and safe to travel. Also consider your comfort for example walking through the airport, sitting on a plane and managing in the heat (assuming you still intend to go abroad).

Then talk to your insurer about whether they are willing to cover your alternative holiday as well as presumably covering costs of the riding holiday.

good luck.

In fairness I can't even move at the moment so it probably is just fantasy

Thank you. I'm on my own and feeling very sorry for myself so having people to talk to really helps. I'm in so much pain.

A better option might be to talk to your employer about rearranging your leave and do something gentle later on.

And book some
kind of epic leg massage, pedicure etc session to cheer yourself up.

Yes you are probably right. The weather looks ok this week so maybe have this week as holiday and recover. I'm so sad.

This week might be a sick leave job if you’re in pain and really limited in what you can do.

it’s a good week to be off sick (trying to find some positives).

Thank you, it is positive that it is sunny, although I can't even make it to the garden atm.

I think I'm being over optimistic about everything.
