Have you ever lost something for it to turn up somewhere unexpected much, much later?

I got new prescription sunglasses just before lockdown, wore them a few times and they vanished. I “thought” I’d left them in a shop in our little town, but asked around and no. Today I was gardening and moved a huge pot and there they were! Great, except I had my cataracts done and they are useless. But 5 years! (I know it’s a sad reflection on my gardening, but it was a huge pot)

Yes. Except that the item turned up, two months later, in the exact spot where I had placed it.

My engagement ring. I found it in an old suitcase about 6 yrs after we had moved house!

I lost a kindle a long time ago - I was pregnant at the time (with a child who is now 11!) and remembered taking it with me to a scan, I was 100% sure I must have left it in the waiting room or something but I called the hospital and it was never found. Anyway I was recently sorting through some junk in the loft and there it was - in the box that my graduation photo was delivered in! I clearly never did anything with the photo other than glance at it then stick the box next to the desk in our home office. My kindle must have fallen off the desk into the box and then the office got turned into my DDs room so all the junk went up the loft! (The kindle doesn’t work any more!)

Yep. Moved house. Couldn't find the sat nav. Took 4 years to find it again. At the bottom of the shredder basket. Not used it since - got a phone these days!

A necklace I’d lost for about a year. Found it 2 weeks ago when I took my bed apart- it had somehow slipped between the divan bases.

My son lost his Teddy in Mallorca in 2006 . We went back to the same accommodation in 2012 . Teddy was on display in the reception area !
Teddy is now in custody on a chair in my bedroom…son doesn’t care but I do 🥰

I lost a very expensive (to me) mitten. Couldn’t find it anywhere. Luckily I kept the other one and 9 years later it turned up in the pocket of an old sports bag. I still wear them to this day.

Engagement ring. Lost it, was devastated. Six years later had the kitchen done. When the builders were finished installing the flooring, I found it on the floor in front of the sink. Mind boggling!

My dad was in the army. My mum said, when you move every 3-4 years you find all kind of things you previously thought lost.

It definitely was true regarding the remote control of our VHS player...

A dress I swear went to a charity shop was back in the drawer a few months later.

A cheap ring snapped so I put it in the bin. It reappeared in a cup when I was washing up.

I gained a teddy bear in an old box mam was sorting through. We didn't recognise it. I never had a bear like that.

I'm now hoping to be reunited with an entire drawer full of pyjamas that disappeared sometime ago. I've given up trying to figure out how that could even happen 😥

I lost my bank card, went to the shops and used it, got home and it was nowhere to be found. Went back to the shop to see if I left it there. I hadn’t. Cancelled the card and got a new one. Then went on holiday. When I came back my lost bank card was on the floor in the middle of the study (which I had checked several times for the missing card).

A single diamond earring went missing and reappeared one day in the toilet bowl 2 years later.

And a necklace I lost in a house move 3 years earlier. I assumed it was lost in the old house, and was talking about it one day. 20 minutes later, I opened my wardrobe (the same one I opened every day for 3 years) heard a little clatter, and the missing necklace had dropped off the shelf in the wardrobe onto the floor

I lost my favourite ring that I wore for years when I cut my fingers and had to take it off to dress them. I turned the house upside down, looked all around the garden, emptied a whole pile of bags I'd packed for the charity shop and even went through the bins. I was so upset my Mum said she'd buy me a new one but I couldn't find anything anything similar.

Several months later, I found it in the middle of my drive, right in front of I where park my car and next to my recycling bins. Just sitting there in full view. No idea how or when it got there.

I have a ring that my father left to me, it belonged to my grandma. One of the 4 small diamonds fell out and I stopped wearing it, thinking I'd get it sorted 1 day. Around 2 years later we had our kitchen wall knocked through to make a large kitchen diner and all the furniture was piled up in the lounge, and after the work was done, we had to deep clean the house as building dust was everywhere. A few weeks later I spotted something in the seam on a chair in the lounge, it was the missing diamond! How it survived all that I'll never know, but was so happy and my neighbour who is a jeweller kindly refitted it for me.
