How often should I contact the estate agent? Slow to sell

I'm selling an inherited house. It needs a lot doing. It's been on the market with this estate agent for 9 months. We have dropped the price once. We get about a viewing every couple of weeks but no offers. The estate agent is very successful and is probably busy with houses that are selling.

I feel I should be contacting the estate agent to get them to not forget me. Is once a week too much to phone them ?

Hi @PainfulBigToe
Are other similar properties selling?

Are you getting viewings (and if so, what is the feedback)?

I would arrange appointment to speak with agent and discuss their plans/strategy to get your place sold. Perhaps give a timeframe of when you would like to see xyz? You can also speak to othet agents if this property hasnt got original EA's enthusiasm.

Best of luck!

The agent should be updating you weekly.

You need to have a strategy and that might be to reduce the price again, go with a different agent or remove from the market. You need to know what feedback there has been from the viewings you’ve had. That should inform your next steps.

If it needs a lot of work, you’ll probably have to accept less thwn similar properties in better condition. The agent should be doing the work though. That’s what you pay them for.
