How would you spend your birthday alone?

My DP is abroad, DC will be at school and friends are working.

I have the the day off on my birthday. I need to be contactable in case the school calls but otherwise I have 6 free hours to myself (or 8 if I put the DC in after school club).

I live on the south coast so could do a day at the beach if the weather is nice but wondered if Mumsnetters had any other good ideas?

WWYD?

Spa day with massage and afternoon tea!

If I ever have a rare child free day, I pick up a coffee and pastry after the nursery run, have a full body massage about 10ish, have a nice lunch from Marks & Spencer’s when I get home, then an afternoon bath with a film on the iPad.

My absolute idea of heaven! Hope have a lovely birthday xx

I would book myself a nice appointment for after school drop off like a manicure, pedicure, massage, etc then have a coffee and wander around the shops. A deli near me does awesome salads/sandwiches etc for lunch so picnic for one on the grass by the beach.

Such a nice day Id head for the beach, coffee and relax in the sunshine. Hopefully it’s nice on the South coast today. Happy birthday Op .

Ooh these are all great ideas, thank you. I am really looking forward to a bit of me time and I won’t feel guilty if it’s my birthday.

I think I’d book a spa day and have a massage and a nice lunch.

TomatoSandwiches · 09/05/2025 09:38

I'd make myself a packed lunch in a cooler, head to Viking or Stone Bay, laze in the sun until toasty warm and then have a swim, eat lunch, slather myself in suncream, set an alarm and have a drowsy snooze in the sun again, get an icecream and coffee before I have to head off for school pick up.

Oh and Happy Birthday! Got absolutely lost in my dream sorry 😂

I will be spending my birthday alone as am away for work. So work during the day and then I might either get a ticket for a show or order room service, get a lot of beauty products and have a mini spa and fire up Netflix.

I haven’t decided yet

I'd go for a lovely long walk, listening to a podcast, by the sea. Then I'd stop for lunch somewhere rather special.

FrenchandSaunders · 09/05/2025 11:09

In the evening I'd get a takeaway with the DCs.

TheRozzers · 09/05/2025 13:59

Such great ideas. Thank you. The DC will definitely enjoy a takeaway or I could take them for an afternoon tea after school 🤔
