Pocket money when they have a job?

So DD has got herself a job. She is 14.

I currently give her £20 per week pocket money. She will earn about £60 a week during the Summer, maybe a little more some weeks.

Is it the norm to stop pocket money at this point?

I wouldn’t as it’s mean and looks like a punishment for doing something good.

Well that’s the argument in this house.

At what point do you stop?

As she’s 14 and the money is just for the summer then I’d keep paying it. It’s almost impossible for 14 year olds to get term time jobs.

If she was 18 and just finished A-levels then it’s fine to end pocket money.
