Kindle cost effective

Hi. I love reading and the feel of a book. I currently try to buy a lot of my books second hand from online or shops. I was wondering though do others who use kindles think they are more cost effective than buying books. I know you have the initial outlay of buying one but after that I'm wondering if more cost effective. Any thoughts please?

To each their own, to me kindles are cost effective, I get 99c and free books all the time (but if I like the author will buy their other books to support them as I myself am an author on Amazon), and only pay more for books I really want, where some people buy loads from book shops and never read them! (Their prerogative!)

I live for kindle unlimited because of the range of witchy cosy books and because I earn (a small amount as I’m not well known but kindle unlimited is the best payer for me) from my rom com books from there.

Libraries and charity shops are also cost effective!!

I’ve checked my account and it looks like I got £15 off a new paperwhite when my old one died.

I’ve just looked at my kindle book wish list and on average the books on that are £4.99 each.

I did the getting cheap/ free books when I first got one; I just ended up with more books than I could read, and not ones that I particularly wanted to read either. I’ve since gone through them, read more recent reviews and deleted many. This month I didn’t get any of the first reads; previously I was routinely getting those because they were ‘free’.

Kindle paperwhites are fantastic, but I still think it’s cheaper to buy paperbacks overall, taking into account the cost of the device too. Currently the equivalent to what I have is £169 without ads! Unless you read lots and aren’t fussy about what you read.

I know about those things, my query was specifically about the stuff your kindle offers, I've never seen those in any of the places you've mentioned. But I don't check every day so may have missed them

With the first reads I wait until the end of the month and get the one with the best reviews, I've not had one I didn't enjoy yet and have sometimes gone on to buy other books by that author.

I can't imagine not taking up the freebie😁

Having more books than I can read on my Kindle is definitely true. If a book sounds up my street and is free, I'll get it. I've currently got 120 books on my TBR list. If I downloaded no others that would take me a couple of years to get through. But since you can have thousands of books on Kindle I don't really see that as an issue.

The Stuff your Kindle offers are not really advertised on Amazon.
