What’s the general consensus? Are they any good or just worth trying once?

I’ve done the singles party night by accident! I didn’t really realise what it was but it was fun, although I was the youngest person there by about twenty years. A lot of men who aren’t afraid to talk to you, whether you want them to or not.
Women very glammed up seemed to be the demographic, It was billed as an 80s night and so I rocked up in a Def Leppard t shirt and short shorts and everyone else was head to toe sequins etc.

What was the vibe? Was it weird men who look like they’re desperate for an easy lay or actual nice men?

I’ve done speed dating back in the dark ages. It was something different and worth giving it a go. I didn’t match with anyone. The guys all seemed either quite weird, twitchy and coked up, or one was trying to worth out my surname so he could determine if I had the right lineage for the sort of woman he would be expected to bring home and marry. I expect it would be better than just swiping on Tinder for a night, so why not?

It was a mix to be honest. One man was around 70, greasy hair, deckchair stripy trousers, loafers, no socks, massive beer belly and was trying to dance with/talk to me. I had to admire his confidence to be honest.

My friend got the number of a lovely man, don’t know if it went any further.

The vibe was good, it was just fun. Everyone was dancing.

No, would never have considered it. Surprised given OLD it still takes place.

It was really rubbish. Just some very strange men. Probably some men who were on some kind of criminal database too.
