Did you have a VE Day 80 street party this weekend?

I'm wondering as it's been on the news that lots of people were having them. There aren't any around where I live as far as I know but I think the local British Legion were planning something with live music. How did it go? What did you do?

Nope.

There was something on in the centre of town, with the usual burger vans etc selling over-priced tat, but I'm not aware of any 'street parties'.

No. The village had already arranged events for Thursday (so actual VE day) before the government decided it should be Monday...

Not street parties, but there is an afternoon tea at the church and a bonfire in the evening with a brass band.

No, there was nothing from our council about how to organise it, we have had them on my street in the past for the Queen's jubilee and for the coronation I think, but nothing this time. I organised them last time but this year DC have GSCEs / exams so we're busy and I didn't want the additional disruption.

Also the weather was horrible on Monday so glad we didn't. I would be happy to organise one another time.

Yes. We had a great time. Street closed off, silly party games - egg throwing, welly throwing etc, communal high tea, evening barbecue, beer and wine. It was smashing.

No. But there's a tea party on the field in the middle of the village happening on Thursday itself.

Our town has a council organised event on Thursday afternoon, and our small street of 10 houses is having a street tea party on Saturday.

No. Nothing local. But I was away/at work anyway.

Yes, our road manages one at least once a year. It was nice to have a chat with some tea and cake. Beyond one flag and some red, white and blue bunting, there wasn't any real mention of VE day though.
