Any techie types about? Lost my mobile signal

Hi all, a couple of days ago the signal bars disappeared from my mobile. So I can’t make outgoing calls/texts, receive outgoing/call texts, or do anything but use WiFi. Contacted my contract provider who said no issues with my account or payment. Not on airplane mode. Does anyone have any ideas please? All updates have been installed.

Check you have the signal for mobile switched on.

Nunaluna · 02/05/2025 11:41

Data is switched on if that’s what you mean?

What phone is it?

NicolaCasanova · 02/05/2025 11:44

This happened to me a few months ago. I took it to the shop and I think the guy fixed it by switching off and on the phone again, yes, really. Also switched off data, Bluetooth, etc. then turned it back on. Samsung.

iPhone 12. Just tried resetting network settings - nothing. Think I’ll have to go to a shop somewhere! Thanks for suggestions

Could the SIM card have got some dirt on it?

Maybe remove the SIM card and clean it before putting it back.

This happened to me last year. It turned out that I needed a new sim.

Scampuss · 02/05/2025 11:56

Have you turned it off and on again?

imbolic · 02/05/2025 12:03

Turning it off and on again works quite often.

Yes, I’ve had this - I’m afraid @Nunaluna it’s a simple case of ‘turn it off and turn it on again’!

Weekmindedfool · 02/05/2025 17:17

Have you tried looking down the back of the sofa?

ErrolTheDragon · 02/05/2025 17:38

theres a possibility you’ve fallen victim to a sim swap attack.
