Admiral claim payments scandal

Has anyone experienced Admiral Insurance's refusal to pay the true market value of their car that has been written off? My 21 year-old daughter's car was totalled by a driver, Admiral agreed her no-fault claim but would only pay two thirds of the value of the car, spuriously claiming that they use up to the minute valuations. We took them to the Financial Ombudsman who ruled on our side and told Admiral to pay the rest. This took considerable effort including providing alot of marketplace evidence as to the value of that car. The person dealing with our claim at the Financial Ombudsman confirmed that they are continually trying to make insurance companies pay properly as they try not to.

Yep, three years ago. Inflation in secondhand cars has been huge. The Financial Ombudsman agreed with the valuation, hence Admiral coughing up the rest.

Let’s hope you don’t suffer permanent injury when both drivers are insured by the Admiral Group. My daughter ended up in a wheelchair due to a rear end collision. It took 10 years to get compensation. She was humiliated by their lawyers accusing her of faking her condition and stating that she would have ended up in a wheelchair anyway. Virtually blackmailed her in the end to agree a settlement at a far reduced amount and for her to pay the legal fees. I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole. They were more interested in paying as little as possible and using everything they could to ruin her. Not a fan as you can guess.
