Do child maintenance arrears disappear once the case is closed?

As the title says really, if I were to close a collect and pay where the arrears owed to me for our children have built up over the years (thousands), will these be wiped off if I were to close the child maintenance case? There was a liability order in place too but I haven’t received a payment in a long time despite this.

Nope! I know my friend is only now getting money from maintenance owed and her kids are in their 30s

My exDH had his arrears of £7k wiped when the csa changed to CMS though which pissed me off

Ohh, that’s unfair on you, I’d have thought they’d have carried the debt over. I had no idea that they would still try to get the money from their father even after the kids are adult. He has cancer and I know he owes me this money but I feel really guilty even so, and I’m thinking of closing the case down.
