What bottled water in the UK to use for babies formula?

Going somewhere can’t use the tap water. I know in Europe they label water as baby safe and they don’t boil it. I still want to book the water but can’t used the tap water so wondering which bottled water is safe with sodium content etc

I’d just fill up a water container from home and bring with you. If you don’t have a 5 litre container or similar (really useful so a worthy investment), then buy the 19p 2 litre bottles of store brand water, tip it down the sink and fill up with your water from home.

Don't clog up your luggage with stagnant tap water. Just find out what they use locally, boil it and use that. Or look at the guidelines for countries where they make formula using bottled water, and see what they say about sodium content etc, and follow that guidance where you are going.

Don’t tip perfectly good water in the sink!😣 You can drink it yourself!

I won’t be bringing a weeks worth of tap water. But bottles to open every day or every other day so not a weeks worth of old water for a baby! The question was which uk water is safe

Evian used to be, but I'm going back a LONG time, so I'd double check.

Bandol · 29/04/2025 11:48

Evian is ok for making up baby formula. It’s useful to remember because it’s available in many countries.

daffodilsandaisies · 29/04/2025 11:51

Buy it there, following the NCT advice on sodium and sulphate

GreenSilverStripe · 29/04/2025 11:52

Thanks, seems Evian and a few others are ok and well below the threshold. Makes life a lot easier having something checked off the list thanks

@GreenSilverStripeGet a Virgin Pure Machine fitted! It connects to your mains water supply, filters it and both chills and boils it on demand! So you can add a blast of boiled water and follow it with chilled water until it’s the correct temperature. All filtered! I adore ours and you’ve never had a cup of tea like it once you have one made from filtered water! 💧

Just look at the labels of the cheapest bottled water. Most brands are fine. It is only fancy spring water (and sparkling water) which have higher levels of minerals.

BoarBrush · 29/04/2025 12:42

Can you try pre made formula before you go? Surely that would be better than taking the risk.

humptydumptyfelloff · 29/04/2025 12:58

Always used to be Evian so we would buy that once in the country and boil it. Something to do with the sodium levels but that was 10 years ago now

Allergy formula so no ready made unfortunately. Miss the ready to feed stuff!

Edited

Doesn’t sound very portable for a holiday 😂 We also have to use cold boiled water and that has to have been pre boiled so can’t use this to make bottles

Where are you going? Maybe a local MNetter can advise.
