Please help me find some new dining room chairs?

We've had this Oak Furniture Land table and six chairs set for well over a decade now, and the seats are worn. Also, I've really gone off the heavy look and feel, and I get annoyed that unless both leaves are open then the chairs don't fit under the table nicely.

So, on the look out for six new chairs. Originally thought I liked the wishbone style, but after sitting in friend's recently for over an hour it wasn't very comfortable (and pretty sure they're Ercol originals!).

Has anyone else bought new ones they're happy with recently and happy to post a link please?

Six new chairs still won't fit under the table unless it's extended.

I would just recover the old chairs and think about the trees you're saving and the shipping from China that didn't have to happen.

Fair points. I was thinking maybe smaller chairs would fit with how we usually have the table - just one leaf up. Or just get four.

Forgot to say I really don't like the tall backs on our chairs, and how heavy they are. Looking for low backs and lighter. Will freecycle old ones as sure someone will restore them and enjoy them for years to come.

Don't go for what they look like, go for what they feel like. Of course there will be ones you like the look of and ones you dont, but looks aren't the most important thing.

For me - I know realise that I can't manage heavy chairs. They need to be fairly light and manoeuverable. I bought some mid century chairs to go with my mid century dining table - the backs are really uncomfortable! Sit on the chairs before you buy them. Be practical - no point in buying cream boucle chairs (yes I have seen some) if you have small children/pets, especially cats whose class will get caught in the loops. Work out what you have to spend and only look at chairs within your budget!

This is a really good point - thank you! We live in the sticks and have grumpy shopping-hating kids, so getting to furniture places is tricky, but will speak to DH and try to get a date in the diary to go around places.

We bought a set of 12 recently from Ebay - they're vintage Ercol "Penn" design and super comfy as the backs are curved. We went round so many shops and I hated nearly all of them - the only ones I did like were from Cox and Cox but we'd have needed to remortgage for 12 of them!

Gutted you didn't post sooner as we spent WEEKS looking for sturdy heavy chairs just like these and couldn't find anything for ages!

Literally bought some a month ago but would have happily taken these off your hands 😅😅🙈🙈

Relieved not to be eating tea off a pouffe and old box now tho 😬😅
