Any ebayers around to help? Wrong postage query- both buyer and seller charged

Hello

So, totally my fault but I selected the wrong postage option (buyer paid postage.)

I found out at the PO when they wouldn’t accept the parcel.

I went home and voided the label (bearing in mind buyer already bought postage) and reissued a new one which was £1 more.

I messaged the buyer a few days ago to apologise and offered to refund all postage costs due to my error. No reply.

I’ve checked my account and I can see the buyer was charged for the original (incorrect) postage and I have been charged twice for the original postage and the new postage.

I’ve tried help on eBay but just keep going round and round in circles with the AI bot.

So, 3 sets of postage have been paid - one by buyer and 2 by me. I just want to make sure the buyer is refunded postage.

Anyone able to help?

It sounds like .... you need to do the steps to get back to position that you only paid one lot of postage, you must seek (from post office or via Ebay? which one is possible?) one refund for yourself.

Buyer: you can only repeat message them with offer to refund their costs. they may never reply but you tried so you'll have clean conscience.

If you voided the label Royal mail will refund it may take a few days. Why did you feel you had to refund the buyers postage. Were you very late dispatching it. The buyer sent the postage for you to send you paid for the postage to send to them. That makes things correct the buyer isn't out of pocket neither are you.

@Iloveeverycat
that’s useful to know the refund can take a few days, thanks.

I offered to refund because the buyer would have had to pay more than originally stated on the listing as I made a mistake with selecting the wrong postage option. I was on time to send, just wanted to do a gesture of goodwill.
