Can anyone help me find this old toy train please?

I vividly remember playing with it when I was about 5, 1980ish.

It was yellow plastic (may have had different colours on it as well)
Battery powered.
Uniquely, and the thing I remember most about it, on one side of the train it had a small lever switch, which turned it on and off. Used to play with it on the 'red' plastic track.

Would dearly love to see it again; it's the lever that I most remember.

Can anyone help me, my searches seem fruitless.

Thankyou

Was it the Fisher Price circus train?

GizmoIsSoFluffy · 27/04/2025 21:55

Not the circus train. That was the red track we had, but it was definitely a battery operated locomotive.

We had this.
Have just taken to the charity shop as we needed the space and boys had never played with it preferring the brio version

I have a recollection of these train sets but I wonder if perhaps the engine and track were from different manufacturers? Anyway search for 1970’s Tomy trains or Mettoy plastic trains on eBay, the Mettoy version can have red track. Good luck!

Not the right colours but your post reminded me of this set my brother had -that would have been late seventies. The clip almost dhows the lever operation.

This set brings back memories! We had lots of it including a turntable. I particularly remember the little plastic ‘toggles’ to link the train and carriages together.

@GizmoIsSoFluffy bumping my post

I'm quite sure the loco didn't match the train set. I have no idea where it came from, but I loved it. Had to give it to my younger boy cousins when they were born 😥

I turned out to be an autistic female engineer - no wonder I loved trains 😁😁
