Chip Shop Chips Reheated in the Air Fryer

Ok so I always end up with a few too many chips when I have fish and chips.

Last Friday I put the uneaten ones in the fridge and tried reheating them the next day in the air fryer.

Food of the gods with balsamic vinegar. They were a bit more crunchy but tasted great. I am now comtemplating going for the large portion to heat up more as they are better value.

Are there any other takeaway foods that can be similarly resurrected ?

I think anything you can get from the chippy. Me personally, I always find it’s a bit undercooked. I know some people seem to like the soggy sort of chip, but I don’t, I like things properly cooked. Any beige foods really, pizza etc.

You lost me at balsamic vinegar on chips though. 😳

Leftover pizza in the air fryer is great

(if you’re not a fan of the Breakfast Of Champions cold pizza with a hangover)

The air fryer can bring anything back to life

all hail!

My mum even freezes leftover chippy chips and reheats in the air fryer, they come out like fresh!

fruitpastille · 24/04/2025 14:36

They are good in a normal oven too.

I've used chip shop chips to do Chinese salt and pepper chips in the air fryer and they were divine!

Spann · 24/04/2025 14:44

This is a thing and I also order more, and also freeze the leftovers to heat up again at a later date

AdaColeman · 24/04/2025 14:44

You need mayonnaise on your chips though, not balsamic vinegar!

myplace · 24/04/2025 14:46

Choo shop chips in the air fryer are the best possible chips.

Throw them in with finely chopped onion, chilli (i didn't have any so had to use flakes) garlic powder, 5 spice and shake it all about a bit, with a tincy bit more oil. Just keep checking and shaking! They were lush!

I do this too. Cook from frozen for about 10 mins. Bloody gorgeous.

TheShadowOfTheWizard · 24/04/2025 15:15

Salt and chilli chicken is great reheated. Anything that's intended to be crispy. I've even reheated half a burger wrapped in foil.

Roast potatoes done in the air fryer the next day, gorgeous

canthavethatonethen · 24/04/2025 15:27

We don't have an air fryer, but I've been reheating leftover chip shop chips for donkeys years. They freeze really well and you can reheat them from frozen too.

qotsa · 24/04/2025 15:56

We put left over chippy chips in the freezer and air fry from frozen and they are still as good as fresh 🙏🏼 always get at least a large portion too many.

NoBiscuitsLeftInMyTin · 24/04/2025 15:57

I always refry the left over chips in the frying pan with the bacon fat.

Yes.
My Dmum was doing this decades ago.

Nothing new under the sun.

I see your 'left over chips in the frying pan with the bacon fat' and raise you left over roast potatoes fried up with pigs in blankets on Boxing Day, or done in the air fryer, as per the OP.

If you're confused about the idea of left over roast potatoes and pigs in blankets, you're either not cooking enough in the first place or hosting my BIL for Christmas lunch, I swear he ate about 20 of each last time he was here.

Another solution to 'too many chippy chips' is the shortcut Spanish omelette. Fry up your chips and then pour over enough beaten egg to cover.
