Maternity leave - outside the box things to do

I’m currently on maternity leave with my second and most likely last child.

We have a 6 year old already and my husband has a pretty flexible job so I have the opportunity to do some trips or days away with the baby and really want to make the most of the year off.

My parents live abroad so will do a few trips to see them as I’m quite confident I’ll be ok flying with the baby but is there anything else you would schedule in that’s a bit different and enjoyable that will make the most of being off work and having a portable baby? Doesn’t have to be a holiday but could be stuff in the day.

Our 6 year old will be at school so won’t be able to join much but my husband can sort childcare so no worries there but obviously I don’t want to leave them for too long so no more than a week at a time if I did go anywhere away from home.

I spent my first maternity leave doing baby classes etc weekdays but honestly I found myself wishing the days away a bit and sat in the living room early evening waiting for when my husband finished work and I really want to avoid that feeling this time and make the most of it!

What do you enjoy doing?
Can you fund it?

Visits to museums, galleries etc are quite easy with a small baby.
Evening classes - even if during the day and DH can look after the baby.
Gym/exercise classes if there is a creche.

Some cinemas have daytime baby friendly viewings which I always wanted to try
