Really worried about wedding dress

Morning everyone.
im probably being paranoid but…
i bought my wedding dress second hand, it was the only way i was going to be able to afford the one I wanted. It fit perfectly but there was some wear & tear at the bottom of the skirt.
6 weeks ago I took it to a seamstress who seemed to think it was no problem to replace the tulle on the skirt. 5 weeks after this appointment I asked how she was getting on, she asked me to come in a week later.
The night before my appointment she messaged to say she would have to postpone as the tulle had been “held up”. I now won’t be going back in until next week. This leaves us with only 2 weeks before the wedding. Am I right to be a little panicked?

for context, here is the dress

How much of the skirt is she replacing? All of it? Has she already taken the dress apart?

i honestly have no idea, I think this is why I’m so stressed. I should have asked more questions at the first appointment but I remember her saying (when looking at the layers) “we will just replace it”. So that could definitely mean the whole skirt.

Well surely she's told you what she's going to do and how much it will cost?

She said she would replace the tulle and nip in the top bit slightly. I was far too naive, cost was never mentioned.
I completely accept that I’m partly at fault for my own stress. If next week rolls around and it’s still not ready, I will ask for it back and see if anyone else local can do anything about the dress with only a 2 week window.

Thank you. I just hope it still looks like this on the day.

The dress is beautiful, I'd contact her again and ask her what she meant say you are panicking a little bit about it, she might "sigh" but she should explain it better and put your mind at ease,

Coffeeishot · 23/04/2025 09:42

Oh so she is replacing the tuile that should be fine don't take it back if she says it will be ready it will be ready. You won't find anybody at short notice.

Keep pestering her, she is being completely unreasonable not to keep you updated so close to the wedding date....
