Roast dinner vegetables…

I sent a friend in Australia a picture of our Easter Sunday roast dinner (as you do!) and she was surprised to see cabbage on the plate-apparently they don’t do that in Australia. We always have cabbage, carrots, roast potatoes and parsnips as the basics. Sometimes some others-broccoli
or sweet potatoes or whatever we have lying around. Is cabbage normal for you? I said I’d report back!

Always cabbage. But it has to be sweetheart cabbage and not savoy unless there is nothing else. Or Green cabbage in a bag will do

No no no to brocolli... gravy doesn't go on brocolli !

Cabbage is nice, but I find if I have too many greens on one plate it upsets my stomach. Perils of old age

Always carrots and often cauliflower cheese but only sometimes cabbage. Generally a braised red cabbage in winter or white/Savoy with bacon and garlic. I love cabbage but not so much the rest of the family.

I’m in Australia. We definitely have cabbage with a roast!

Depends on the meat. Generally I only do cabbage with pork. I do red cabbage with chicken, turkey and lamb. Carrots always feature with any roast. Swede and carrot only with turkey or chicken.

I then have parsnips, tenderstem broccoli, cavolo nero, peas etc depending on what I fancy. Typically I’ll do 3 or 4 veg and excluding potatoes.

I’m in Australia, grew up in NZ.

No cabbage with a roast.

We have potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, parsnips, broccoli, beans or peas for vegetables.
