Married name observation in passport

Hello! Hoping someone can help.

Has anybody requested an official
observation in their passport stating they are also known by their married surname?

I continue to use my maiden name for official purposes and will renew my passport as such but wanted to know if it’s possible to request an observation stating they are also known by their married surname?

If anyone has successfully requested this observation, what evidence did you send in? I know you’d need to evidence your married name but was there anything else you needed to submit e.g. proof that you still use your maiden name?

Thanks.

As someone who travels for work and has to obtain visas I 100% wouldn’t do this. The easier you can keep passports the better.

speaking from having a mother who changed my name via deedpoll and then my own marriage.

Yes I have that. Didn’t want to completely disassociate from my previous name.

i think my previous passport in my maiden name was enough although it was a long time ago so I can’t remember the details. It wasn’t hard to do and the observation has been automatically transferred to every passport since.

No one at any border has ever commented on it and I’ve travelled a fair bit since then.
