I’m obviously a Mrs. MrsTerryPratchett. I was musing on what a great choice of Mrs. that is yesterday. If you have a Mrs. MN name, or ever have, are you happy with your namesake? Have they continued to be a good choice? Did you change away from the Mrs. for some reason?

I’m not a Mrs. IRL. Married, kept my name, use Ms. So it’s a little ironic.

I'm a Mrs. Formerly married to a man, now CP with a woman (and together for 26 years), I decided to adopt Mrs 4 years after my marriage because I felt I was too old to continue being Miss as a teacher. I kept it for the same reason. I wish we did as the Germans (and others) do - you're Frau after a certain age whether married or not.

MrsAvocet · 18/04/2025 15:53

I am not a Mrs in real life either, and Avocet is not a person! She is beautiful and the love of my life, but a money pit.

I was referring to MN names. But I now love the idea of being a frau. There’s gravitas in that.

Mrs in real life. Didn't like my maiden name so more than happy to take his. If it had been my mum's maiden name I was giving up I might have kept it. However, I've been married 46 years and everyone I knew took their husband's name so perhaps not.

MinkyWales · 18/04/2025 15:59

I’ve used Mrs in a former MN name (I change every six weeks or so). I’ve also used Lady and other titles.

I’m firmly a Ms in real life. And definitely not a Lady.

Igmum · 18/04/2025 16:03

I was in Germany as a student and everyone was deeply shocked at the idea I should be called Fraulein. I was an adult and worthy of respect so should be called Frau. The only time I was ever called Fraulein I was in a queue in the supermarket with loads of white haired German pensioners. As soon as I got back I changed the title on my chequebook to Ms.

I’ve never been a Mrs. Sorry I’m gatecrashing your thread <blushes and backs away apologetically>

MrsMoastyToasty · 18/04/2025 16:07

My MN user name is my DH nickname but Mrs. Instead of Mr.

I quite like the idea of being Doña Moasty as the Spanish use it as a sign of respect.

I used to get offended when I lived in Italy being a signorina. Now I’m ancient, it’s charming.

Another one who’s a Ms in real life…
But v much liking the idea that title should change with age, as a marker of reaching adulthood. I’ve been Ms since I was about 18 and ain’t gonna change now….

Awwww no regrets then?

I think this thread will end up with people missing the point about it being about usernames.

100% definitely. I regret my choices. I might ask MNHQ to edit the title…

I saw a username where someone was Mrs[name of recently charged celebrity sex offender] which was pretty unfortunate.

BottleBlondeMachiavelli · 18/04/2025 16:38

Just to say. I saw Terry Pratchett first. So he’s mine.

Im no flavour of missis, though, so I’m just adding to the de-rail. 😙

IKR? I know there were a few whose fictional husbands weren’t doing very well in hindsight.

Where I live they call me Mrs Polly, not Mrs Creo. It's quite normal when addressing someone formally, it's polite but not over familiar.

Crispynoodle · 18/04/2025 17:37

My MN username is the same as my handle back in the days of CB radio
