Every single year I have to clean out my cupboards of the OOD stuff. Why oh why do I let it build up. Multiples of spices, a myriad of beans and a ton of tomatoes.
I’ve been a bit more organised this time and decanted pasta, polenta and rices into tubs and stacked them all neatly. Now just not to buy new until I’ve exhausted the tubs.
I still have one more cupboard to go, which is the worst as it’s over to the side, above the draining board and washing machine. Which means clambering onto a stool and getting out the vinegars, different soy sauces, chilli oils, unopened jams, marmite, Vegemite, nut butters etc etc etc. plus I keep my meds (there’s a lot of them) up there to keep them out of reach.
I always start with good intentions and then by this time the following year there will be stacked up tins, pasta bags balanced precariously, jars narrowly missing my head as they tip over onto the tiles.
No more! This time I will be organised! (hollow laugh)
