Next have changed their filter from “gender” to “department”.

It used to drive me doubly mad to see it, because as well as “woman” & “man”, they used to consider “older boy”, “younger girl” and so on to be gender categories.

I didn’t notice when it last said “gender” so I can’t say whether it was in reaction to this week’s court ruling, but it’s good to see. Change is in the air.

Maybe M&S changing rooms will be the next policy change.

They have had it listed as Department for a number of years now. It still lists in the drop down menu and filter functions as Men, Women, Girls, Boys etc

The Younger and Older Boy and Girl categories make it easier to quickly search according the age and size.

I think you’re overthinking it.

No, not on the search filters. It was gender until recently.

It’s not a matter of life and death but it’s nice to see the conflation of sex and gender go into reverse. It will be easier all round when the difference is more widely grasped.
