I like the look of the new Omaze house in the Cotswolds, does anyone know where it is?

They took the pool cover off to help with drone/ariel shots apparently (I live very close to this house and my nosey sister asked a developer).

So are they planning to put it back on?

Such a shame, they did that, as I’d want it kept. I wonder whether they kept the parts in one of the outbuildings so it can be reinstated?

…just out of interest, of course, not because I am unhealthily fantasising about winning it and have already worked out where my books would go and how to convert the stables into writers studios…. No, nothing like that.

ElleDee46 · 24/04/2025 19:08

It's not on now and nowhere to be seen so I imagine it will remain off - a shame really.

The problem with the houses is that if you google omaze, a lot of people sell the houses due to problems of being near to cliffside edges or flooding. Some must sell it back as the same houses get featured after some time. all the time. If I won I would want to sell it back and have the money to choose my own location. The one that was featured in Fowey in Cornwall was sold as people on cruise boats kept staring in

If you have a look at the road west of the property on Google streetview, you’ll see a few caravans, cars and horses along the grass verges.

Saw that, too, but those pictures were from 2009 satellite images. I tried to google search local news to see if traveller encampments were an issue more recently but nothing came up.

I think the gardens might be a bit much maintenance but it's beautiful though. I'd be happy simply winning the annex!

I'm not as excited by this one. I don't need a pool nor all the stables. Not fussed by all the little rooms either. I do like the glasshouse though, you'd find me willing away hour after hour in there. I was more taken by the London house for its practicality and location. I've still entered though, for the glasshouse and the annexe (i can rent out or my parents can live there)

I also just don’t want things like a pool or huge grounds that need massive upkeep. Also the ceilings are very low. For all the space it feels cramped.

SazzleDiva · 28/04/2025 22:26

A Google search reveals a planning application (16/00906/FUL - Change of use for 15 traveller accommodation pitches - Planning permission refused) for 15 traveller sites at Welsh rd, Sunhill (2 min drive away/19 min walk). Turned down. But Cotswold district Council in 2017 felt a smaller site of 4-5 pitches was deliverable, within 5 yrs, and the site has more capacity, and their views on the location, former mushroom processing site, seemed favourable.

newrubylane · 28/04/2025 22:40

I wish I knew. We live fairly locally and I'm trying to figure out whether it would be doable to the kids' school every day 😆

NewAgeNewMe · 28/04/2025 22:51

I’m still wondering what the catch is to the London house. Rats probably. But I’d get an exterminator in. I’d kill to live in that location for free!

devilsice123 · 03/05/2025 16:37

it's a lovely house, I've bought tickets for every house but no luck yet!

Is Omaze actually real? Does anyone get thr houses? It seems like a hugely unlikely scam with incredibly low odds to me

Ive said this before but I work for the same company as someone who won one.

HundredPercentUnsure · 18/04/2025 15:53

Unless your part of the scam? 🤔🤭

With me as well as I know someone. Ooh I’ve never been in a scam, I’m not benefitting though so that’s not right!

It’s not a scam but yea obviously it’s really unlikely lol basically the same as the lottery! You have a gamble, some goes to good causes, one in a million people wins

Adrinaxo · 03/05/2025 17:26

I might sign back up! Odds are odds it's just luck!

They don't publish the odds but it's definitely not a scam! Interesting read about how it started and how they got charities on board www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/apr/04/too-good-to-be-true-what-it-is-really-like-to-win-a-3m-dream-home

Brief detail on the house here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ready_Token

The house Omaze is promoting isn’t the arts&crafts one referenced in the wiki article. It dates back to the 17th century in parts, I believe.

hugbilly · 06/05/2025 19:35

Well it's certainly butterfly shaped and I've found it on Google maps https://tinyurl.com/m3e5p8k plus the Wikipedia entry states it's being raffled in 2025. In addition, reference 5 at the bottom of the Wikipedia page links to the Omaze draw . . .
