Work in a school... insomnia during the holidays

Just curious if this affects anyone else. During the school terms, I sleep really well. Come the holidays, and after a couple of days off, I just can't sleep at night!

Yes! I was just on here looking for someone in the same position. Also work in a school and sleep great during term time, now it’s the holidays and I can’t sleep!

Sorry you're suffering as well. I drifted off at about 4.30, but we're out for the day, so not a long sleep!
Planning on doing lots today and then having a relaxing evening tonight tonight.
Roll on Tuesday when it'll all go back to normal!

Nooo, I have the opposite. I feel like a normal person during the holidays and can actually watch whole TV programmes without falling asleep and pretending I know the plot.

I think I need my mind to be busy and that happens at work. I also think I spent more time on my phone in the evening in the holidays which might be affecting my sleep.

I am glad I stumbled on this thread….. I too struggle with the longer holidays.

i think it’s especially now my children have pretty much grown up, so I rarely have to ‘look after’ them - and other half is working normally, so I end up drifting on the long holidays not sure of what I’m doing.

so will read a book and have a nap 😴

I force myself to get up , dressed and walk to the local coop !

it’s totally different in the week holidays, as that’s a nice rest. But any longer and the world feels upside down.

we are going away to a posh hotel for the night tomorrow, and will spend the day exploring the surrounding area- which will be great.

knowing I struggle with the length of the summer holidays, I have booked our week long family holiday right slap bang in the middle of them.

I understand why so many of our staff have camper vans , so they can go away for next to nothing….. part of my issue is money is so very tight that I can’t do fun things all holiday!

I feel that we give so much mentally during the terms that, when we don't have that routine, it just throws everything off.
