Please give me some inspo for quick breakfasts?

kid friendly
quick and easy to make
relatively healthy as to not start the day on a sugar rush

We do not have sweet teeth and cereal almost always is 99% wasted.

DD has:
Smoked salmon with scrambled egg or cream cheese bagel (usually around payday or when it’s on offer)
baked beans with hash brown in an emergency
turkey rashers with a bagel (or eggs)
chicken sausage sandwich
pretty much all of the above with air fried cherry tomatoes
Mainly the above on rotation but very occasionally she will have Greek yoghurt with muesli and a bit of honey.

Mine has porridge with a variety of toppings. Today it was chocolate porridge with frozen blueberries. In summer we do overnight oats instead of porridge. Or yoghurt, oats, flaxseed and fruit. Sometimes a kefir smoothie. At weekends it’s pancakes or bagels with peanut butter or cream cheese. Or eggy bread. Occasionally I can persuade her to eat a boiled egg and soldiers.

CatsWhiskerz · 14/04/2025 19:02

My two are ND and DS a real fussy / needs the same foods so he has a waffle and sometimes crunchy nut coenflakes. DD has scrambled eggs, bacon and often a banana or an apple, she generally has that and 1 other meal (16 years old)

This one made me smile, that's two very different kids!

Mine like porridge and berries or crumpets, or peanut butter wrap and apple slices.

Well my kids range from 23 to 17. So my DS can go through a loaf a day😂😂😂

Meadowfinch · 14/04/2025 20:23

Wholemeal toast with butter and home made jam, and some fruit - satsumas, plums or pineapple.

or pain au chocolate & fruit

Mamofboys5972 · 14/04/2025 20:30

Following as in desperate need of some inso, we do toast or cereal every day at the min

HangingStars · 14/04/2025 20:31

One has weetabix and bran flakes with milk

one has weetabix and Rice Krispies or similar with milk

one has toast and honey or a hot cross bun or similar.

Sometimes they will have apple slices with it.

The 2 cereal eaters are ND and will not deviate!

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 14/04/2025 20:34

Cereal - usually Cheerios or Weetabix. Fruit and fibre.

At the weekends either the same or fried eggs and bacon or pancakes.

Legolord · 14/04/2025 20:37

My two love overnight oats and complain when I haven't made any. We use:
30g Oats (50/50 oats/buckwheat for my youngest who's a bit sensitive to having too much oats)
Tsp peanut butter
Tsp chia seeds
Tsp chocolate protein powder
Half tsp cocoa powder
Dessicated coconut
Flaked almonds
100ml milk

I make 3 days worth at a time.

Allthebrightplaces · 14/04/2025 20:43

My eldest has toasted fruit bread with butter every morning. Occasionally some dry Cheerios too. (ASD)

5 year old has Never liked porridge or Weetabix. Mostly, she'll have toast with butter and jam or marmalade, or eggs. Or pancakes. If the mood takes her, she'll have peanut butter on toast. She might have the odd bowl of Cheerios or rice Krispies, or a pastry.

We have a bread maker so it's more filling than shop bought. And pancakes can easily be made ahead of time/frozen and just warmed in the microwave/air fryer/toaster. DH spoils DD though and makes her pancakes to order, on a tray in bed 🤣

eggybreadyy · 15/04/2025 09:59

Thanks for all the inspo!
my 2 have very different tastes, one will have porridge/weetabix everyday, no issues, the other seems to have an aversion to anything mixed with milk.
I think I will give eggs and toast combos more of a push !

Eggy bread (with lots of ketchup to dip for ds2)

BeaAndBen · 15/04/2025 10:05

One of them - Fried egg over easy on toast, porridge with mashed banana, grated apple and a fistful of seeds and nuts, Greek yogurt with granola or a toasted bagel with butter

Other of them - Special K or a toasted bagel with cream cheese

Third one - absolutely anything at all - except overnight oats “because cold porridge is gross”. But literally anything from a burger through to toast.

TropicofCapricorn · 15/04/2025 10:12

Oh yes, and "chocolate porridge"

Porridge oats, cacao powder, chia seeds, flaxseeds, chopped nuts and a ½tbsp of maple syrup made up with milk.

Sparxdislike · 15/04/2025 10:14

Mine are enjoying smoothies at the moment, I put lots of extras in, fruit, Greek yogurt, oats.

Before this it was pancakes with strawberries, croissants and occasional cereal

TeenLifeMum · 15/04/2025 10:26

17yo had Waffles and announced she’d line to live on them.
13yo mini weetabix with chocolate chips
other 13yo muller corner (chocolate 🙈).

We have healthy lunch and dinner 🤷🏻‍♀️
