Christening present for Granddaughter?

Please could I pick people's brains? It's obviously got to be significant, but I don't really think going for something silver or similar will be appreciated - it'll just get tarnished and become a nuisance. My usual standby for other people's kids has tended to be something like a good edition of a children's classic, but I feel like it needs to be a bit more special. Help!

Have you seen the lovely wooden construction toy pieces called Kapla? They come in useful crates at £100-200. It would see her through to age 10. So much open ended play to be had. And a bit pricey that makes it special.
