My DD is 8 and I really want to teach her the value of money and being responsible for her own as right now she thinks we grow them on trees 🫣. What is a good amount to give this age group ? What are others doing ?

We do £5 a month, but I think we are a bit stingy compared with others. I stick it in a hyperjar pot and then my son has a card he can use to spend his money. We found cash just got lost

DD1 is 8 and we have a reward chart where she gets ticks for chores and tasks. Just basic things like tidying her room, clearing her plate and putting it in the dishwasher after dinner, doing her homework, helping her dad and I around the house etc. Each tick is worth 10p and we add up the ticks at the end of the week and add that amount to a money tracking app. We use BOMAD which is purely a tracker so we can add money and show her how much she has earned and then subtract if she buys anything. I think it's important for her to get a sense of earning her money and using her own money to buy things that I then don't question e.g. if she wants yet another Squishmallow and wants to use her own money to buy it then that's up to her.
