Going away next week - hot tub

Away for a few days next week, weather looks pretty rubbish, accommodation is due to have a hot tub, will it save the holiday?! Sounds silly but I’ve never stayed somewhere with a hot tub before, does it really add something? It’s due to rain most days.

Where is the holiday?

JohnofWessex · 11/04/2025 20:51

I've been in a hot tub in the snow

Enjoy!

Only in the UK.

We ran a holiday let with a hot tub and people loved it in all weathers apart from hot weather. If it’s covered even better. Have a lovely time.

WonderingWanda · 11/04/2025 20:58

If it's not covered take a couple of big brollies!

Cloud44 · 11/04/2025 21:00

@WonderingWanda i didn’t think of that, I don’t think it will be covered, I guess we could sit in it under umbrellas?!

We went away in the UK for Christmas, big group of 10, adults and DC. The hot tub was the best part, all the kids were in it by 9am Christmas morning ! You will love it, definitely adds something

Octavia64 · 11/04/2025 21:00

I bloody love a hot tub.

so much I bought an inflatable one for my garden

WonderingWanda · 11/04/2025 21:03

@Cloud44 yes, if its too heavy it might not be nice but if its just a bit they will keep the cold rain off you.

It's nice to sit in and be lovely and warm and have the rain fall all around you and on your head!! Personally prefer it without the umbrella, but with a narrow neck wine glass!! Don't want it too diluted!!

Does it have an open fire as well or I suppose as it's more likely these days a log burner?

So you're staying in the UK, but which part of it does it have any lovely walks? Near the beach or lake.

Am amazed no one’s mentioned ‘sex pond’!

It’s usually THE MN bingo shout out.

Cloud44 · 12/04/2025 20:48

I’m still feeling annoyed about the weather forecast. I really hope the hot tub adds a bit of excitement to the holiday!

Haha. Was just about to say that they are spermy sex ponds. Envy

tinyspiny · 12/04/2025 20:54

I wouldn’t get excited about a hot tub and personally wouldn’t use one .

Gattopardo · 12/04/2025 21:03

I love a hot tub. Bath with a view (hopefully).

I really don’t think you’d need brollies in one - I find that idea a bit weird! you’re all nice and warm and the cold rain is a good counterfoil, plus nothing nicer than a hot tub in the snow so rain is neither here nor there.

only thing that may impact is torrential downfalls or lightening. Both of those may render the tub unusable but probably not for the whole holiday or even the whole day.

If the weather is iffy, you could just take wet weather gear and go out walking anyway, make it sweeter by going for cozy pub lunches and then soaking away aching muscles in your hot tub.

and yes, there are always people who find the concept of hot tubs revolting and unhygienic. Obviously that’s their lookout but there’s so much enjoyment to be had from simple pleasures like a good ol hot bath, if you’re looking for danger and contamination everywhere life must be a bit boring. In my opinion!
