Our trusty Gaggia machine seems to have died, I am bereft without it.
its over 8 years old so I think we need to look for a new one so looking for recommendations to save me making a costly mistake !
its seems like Sage has become the one everyone sells now so wondering if that’s the way to go.
The machine we had was one where you just press a button for the coffee size you want to pour , not grind and then make the coffee barista style.
Any coffee addicts who can share their recommendations please ?

We’ve just replaced our 15 year old Gaggia Berra with exactly the same machine. £200 cheaper than a Sage, UK Gaggia still accept machines for a service and they are so very reliable. If it ain’t broke etc etc

Sage Barista Impress (I think). Bought reconditioned by our amazing local roasters. Been great so far.

@Cerys1971thanks for the super fast reply , that’s interesting our machine is a Brera it has been good and I love how small it is compared to some of the other machines , we feel like ours has had a few niggles for quite while so I am opening my mind to others.
how often have you needed to have it serviced in 15 years?

The sage bean to cup ones, think there's a few models but we love ours

Thanks all for the recommendations! I know that de longhi machine well - they are very good we bought PIL one and it’s still going strong many years later.
I do also love the look of the
sage ones but hadn’t realised they are mostly not automatic- not sure I can be bothered going back to barista style using the ‘portafilter’ bit after years of just pressing a button!
May go and look at some in real life as well.
interested to see Gaggia offer a 5 year warranty and Sage only 2 - not long for more expensive machines.

I recommended the Delonghi because I've worked in a cafe with a "proper" machine and I cba with mess and tamping, etc.

Sage Oracle, must be getting on for 10 years and has been excellent. I was impressed with Sage so bought three other appliances and they all work really well.

I replaced the "o" rings on the boiler after about 8 years, but they were easy to do and spare are readily available.

Their range is quite comprehensive, so you should be able to find something that fits your needs.

We have a Philips one. You can use either beans or ground but we stick to beans. It has a steam wand and is so easy to clean. It's only small so fits on a small piece of counter top in our small kitchen lovely. You just select what coffee you want, press the button and away it goes. Used every day in our house
