Nosecco 0.5% 12 weeks pregnant

Husband and I had a little occasion to celebrate and I bought myself a bottle of nosecco. I had a glass for the last few days. Surprisingly I enjoyed it a lot.

However, only yesterday I realised it says it says on the label less than 0.5% alcohol. It's completely my mistake. I should have realised than most non-alcoholic drinks actually contain some alcohol in it. I did quite a bit of research and in theory this amount of alcohol could be found in your everyday food.

Obviously I won't have it again and will be more careful with non-alcoholic drinks in general but just wanted to check in with your opinions are? Is there actually a chance I have done some damage by drinking it? (I had a glass each time but finishes off pretty much the whole bottle)

No, it’s totally fine.

CheeseWisely · 06/04/2025 07:52

There can be 0.4% alcohol in a ripe banana. You’ve done absolutely no harm at all (and while some hysterical soul will be along in a minute to scream otherwise) you’d have done absolutely no harm at all if you’d had one glass of regular Prosecco.

Wrongsideofpennines · 06/04/2025 07:53

I had that when pregnant and was happy to do so. I think it's because they make it and then remove the alcohol, so they can't guarantee they have removed every trace of it so have to label it as less than 1%. But they've removed as much as is physically possible.

Ps.. there’s a book by Emily Oster called Expecting Better. Read it and relax! Congratulations on your pregnancy x

Smellslikeburnttoat · 06/04/2025 07:55

It’s 100 percent fine, that level is trace and found in fruit juice! Also a glass of regular Prosecco would have be fine too (read Expecting better by Emily Oster, she takes a science informed rather than misogynistic women can’t be trusted the truth approach..)

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 06/04/2025 07:56

Yep as PP said you're as likely to get drunk on a glass of apple juice or banana as the non alcoholic fizz. Kindly, try to not spiral over small things, it will be a long pregnancy otherwise.

Yes, please read this book, it will save you a lot of anxiety over the rest of your pregnancy!

It’s absolutely fine. Orange juice is supposedly 0.7% alcohol. I’m an alcoholic and I drink 0.5% drinks the same as I drink 0.0% drinks. From the perspective of alcohol metabolism, they have no notable amount of alcohol in them.

Doolallies · 06/04/2025 08:02

It’s a non issue. That is a Prosecco for non alcohol drinkers.

also I’ve drink a glass of wine here and there in all my pregnancies after doing some research. All babies healthy

NerrSnerr · 06/04/2025 09:25

There will be more alcohol in orange juice. It's absolutely fine.

Thank you ladies for all the responses, it's very reassuring 💐 I had previous MC with natural pregnancy and this pregnancy is our 4th IVF transfer so my mind definitely can race to the places it shouldn't. Appreciate I need to control it for my own sake as I still have two trimesters to go xx
