Been up all night with the trots

I daren't go to bed. It's just water now.

No pain or vomiting. Dh is sleeping soundly and totally unaware.

I've had some electrolytes and water.

I'm not on any medication. I'm wondering if it's the fish or the lettuce that was with my salad at dinner? I know both can be dodgy. Dh had the same though.

There's a stomach bug doing the rounds but I thought that'd cause cramps and vomiting?

Luckily I'm off work this weekend. I work a lot of weekends.

I need my sleep! 😔

I have just had exactly what you describe. I think there's just some novovirus type thing doing the rounds. Immodium stopped it in its tracks for me thank goodness. If you don't have any to hand you have my complete sympathy ☹️
I hope you feel better soon.

hmmmmm · 06/04/2025 04:51

@Raquelos that's good you're ok now.

I don't like the idea of stopping it tbh. I think it needs to be out. Luckily I'm not at work for a week so can hopefully sort my sleep pattern out?

It's just weird there's no pain or ill feeling? Am hoping there won't be.

Im in exactly the same situation, although I’ve had it 2-3 days. Yesterday afternoon and evening was the worst. I’m just sipping water and yesterday had a dioralyte.

I’ll join the club. Had Pizza for tea last night and knew what to expect. I had bowel surgery in November and lost a few inches of it.

Within an hour I was off. Been like it again since 2:30am. I guess those 9” I had removed are important. 😁

Can't be anything left now. God it was like emptying an old Radiator. 🤢

hmmmmm · 06/04/2025 12:51

Hope you're both OK?

Mine stopped at 7am. I've only had water and a herbal tea so far.

I'm craving crisps. A crisp sandwich. Would that be a mad thing to eat?

Immodiunm is generally a terrible idea. Your body is expelling for a reason, bad idea to keep it in

My son has this last week, literally water. It lasted 7 days :(

It’s stopped now, but god I feel like somebody has been at my insides with Harpic and a stiff brush.

Funnily enough, I could do with some ready salted crisps. I may just have a dig in the crisp bag in a bit.

Mulledjuice · 06/04/2025 13:10

Crisps are genius. Or crackers. Or Plain Boiled rice.

Malvala · 06/04/2025 13:13

You’re craving crisps because you need sodium. Put a teaspoon of salt in a large glass of water and drink it before you go for the crisps. You clearly need electrolytes.

Agree with the immodium. It’s a bad idea to stop your body expelling what needs to be expelled!!

Definitely eat the crisps. Help replace the salt.
Get well soon OP.

hmmmmm · 06/04/2025 13:18

I've had electrolytes. But yes I'll have the crisps.

@HelpMeGetThrough sorry you feel rough.

I feel normal just tired. And a bit hungry.

I hope you’re all a bit better. I’ve had porridge and a biscuit. Others are eating spaghetti Bol later but I don’t think I’ll risk it. I did see some patient advice online yesterday from an NHS trust which said that there is no evidence that some foods are better than others with the runs. Interesting. Not that I’ll risk it, after yesterday.

kirinm · 06/04/2025 15:21

I’ve just got over this - took 5 days

hmmmmm · 07/04/2025 20:32

Trots are back. Been ok all day. Explosive again. I've split one of dgs's nappies and lined my knickers 🙈 He doesn't use them now.
Only dh and me here.

How are you @marmaladeandpeanutbutter ?

OP posts:
luna2025 · 07/04/2025 20:38

I had this for 7-10 days. Was food poisoning. All I wanted to eat was salted hula hoops and full sugar coke!

evilharpy · 07/04/2025 20:44

I had the same a few months ago, lasted about three days but took much longer to feel human again. I had to take imodium to turn it off for long enough to get a few hours sleep. The stomach cramps were horrific. And I also craved crisps but didn't actually eat for days.

I don't remember ever feeling so terrible. Much sympathy and hope you're over it soon.

hmmmmm · 07/04/2025 21:00

I haven't had pain yet? Weirdly I've been ok from yesterday early morning until tonight?

I'm supposed to be going away for a couple of nights midweek.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 08/04/2025 22:23

Im completely well today, and was yesterday too. I’m eating for England! I hope everyone else is through it.

hmmmmm · 09/04/2025 09:56

@marmaladeandpeanutbutter that's good. I was ok yesterday too. Hope I'm through it?

OP posts:
marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 09/04/2025 10:41

I hope so.

hmmmmm · 09/04/2025 10:59

@marmaladeandpeanutbutter just had a normal papa 🤣
