Money for teenager abroad

DS is going to France after GCSEs for 10 days. Don't think it's wise for him to take all money in cash but can't use his current bank card abroad. At 16, are there any cards you can use abroad which don't incur a transction payment?

You can get a card from the post office that you load currency onto and it works like a debit card. No transaction fees, but the exchange rate is a bit pants.

Oh brilliant. Thank you!

Try Revolut - we opened an account just for this, no transaction fees and you can keep an eye on it as linked with your account (so can top up as required)
