How to get to Wick from Newcastle

My husband is taking a contract in Wick, Scotland - it’s a 7 hour drive but I’m wondering if anyone knows the best way to do it using trains, planes and automobiles!?

If price is no limit you can fly into wick. Otherwise fly to invenress then it's a 4 hour train or bus. Or a 2 and half hour drive from Inverness

There are no direct flights from Newcastle to Wick and there aren’t many anyway. Tbh you’re better driving even though it’s a long drive because even from Inverness you’ve got a long time on public transport or a couple of hours drive anyway. You’re better just getting in the car and driving up.
The trains are poor and the bus is even worse.
